Run iPad without battery.

edited April 2020 in General App Discussion

Good evening to you all.
Are there any Electrical, electronics engineers Or DIY electronics guys in here?
I want to install an iPad in my audi TT so i can use it to play music and for calls.but im worried about the battery exploding during hot temperatures.
Ive done the no battery mod to my nexus 7 tablet, i just had to take out the battery and cut the battery controller, solder some wires to the controller and i could run the tablet without battery..
I was wondering if the same thing could be done to an iPad..
If anyone is interested in the nexus 7 mod here is the video.
It gets interesting around 6 minutes in

Theoretically it's quite feasible but after a cursory search
on the net it seems no one has been able to do it.
So what I would say is have a look into getting an iPad cooler,
there's a company stateside that has iPad coolers.

Hi there.thanks for the reply..I might take the risk and try it. The only thing I’m worried about is breaking the screen while taking it off.🤣🤣 will report back if successful

  • You really should use an adapter to convert the car's 12 Volt DC to the iPad's (probable) lightning cable
or (possible) USB-C or (regretable) 30-pin adapter. There are cigarette lighter adapters for all 3.

A car cigarette lighter cell phone adapter is often perfect and works without problems and won't void your service warranty rights.

    Cool.

If it is possible then it could extend the working life of many iPads.

    Looking forward to your success.
