Still are not able to record midi cc from turnado interface or from the show parameter screen with automation recording on and track armed. I was hoping this would finally work now.
Hey Everyone,
Glad to hear Zenbeats is working better for some. We're always working to improve, and you can expect another maintenance drop soon with more plugin-based fixes. With 1.2.1 we implemented detailed logging on plugin issues, so we are will continue to improve over time here too.
Stay tuned!
Nope. Crashed 5 times on me from a clean install. But eventually all plug-ins loaded except for 3 Quarantined ones which continue to crash ZB if I force load them from the dropdown...but I don't need these plug-ins so I've moved on to just using the app to how it handles.
I'll stick with it, as I do like the product overall. Really appreciate that you take the time to stop by and fill us in on progress. Thank you!
With the above said, our list of fixes is too long for the app store so here are some of the improvements we made in 1.2.2.

Great update @MatthewAtZenbeats 👍🙏
Is there any thinking on portrait layouts for iPhone at all?
You're right. It still pukes on some plugins in the full scan.
So strange. I just can't fathom why they even go through this when no other host needs to go through that dance. They keep throwing time at fixing something that seems like it doesn't even need to happen. I don't get it. It puts so many people right off the app before they even try it. I can't see that any benefit Zenbeats gets from doing that scan is worth the pain and the bad taste it leaves in people's mouth.
Oh well. At least it does eventually make it, and and scan for new works. But if stuff like that stressed me out, I'd toss it for sure.
Not currently for any patch. That would require a huge redesign of epic proportions.
Still have some export audio glitches.
I believe NS2 scans plug-ins. Maybe there's a formula they can emulate there that would make it more stable. 🤷🏾♂️
NS2's scan is only of the presets from each app, to put them into its own patch management system I believe. It seems that Zenbeats must be doing something much more based on the time it takes to get it done and the sensitivity to crashes. What that added insight to the scanned apps consists of is beyond me though.
I mean, even after scanning, Zenbeats doesn't even categorize AU plugins properly. For instance, Midi FX show up when you go to add an audio FX, and audio FX show in the list when you add a Midi FX.
I'm sorry, Zenbeats is one of my favorite apps. But this is just plain embarrassing. Scan seems to be worse with the last update! It took me an hour to get through 232 plugins. I had to give up on full scan and resort to scan for new. It crashed at least three times, and stalled on at least 5 plugins.
I'll keep using it myself, but I'm afraid I can no longer with a good conscience recommend this otherwise stellar app to anyone.
It's so sad to see some apparently tenacious sticking to an inexplicable "feature" dragging this thing down.
Every time I see a post about Zenbeats being less buggy I give it another go and every time it crashes in under a minute.
Here’s the latest version of Zenbeats failing to play a song with two AU instruments and a drum track. Nothing more.

@MatthewAtZenbeats I wish the quarantined plugin list could be viewed and rescanned from Settings.
That’s literally as far as I’ve ever got in the app.
What device and iPad OS are you running. Been running it on iPad Pro 13.5.1 for about 3 hours and it's playing...playing...using following synths: Aparillo, Quanta, Drambo, Continua and native Drums and no crashes so far...which is great...
You can view the Quarantined plug-ins in the Instrument Panels when you add an Instrument
Agreed, but I'm not interested in opening a song and adding an instrument. I want to see the list of quarantined plugins and possibly rescan some of them 😀
@echoopera It’s a 9.7” iPad Pro running 13.4 but it’s done this as long as I’ve had Zenbeats over several 13 dot releases

Good to know, thanks, still love it 👍
Uggghhh....not fun. Any thoughts on updating to 13.5.1? Been a lot of fixes since 13.4....
Might do that while I sleep actually.
EDIT... sorry I missed the 808? Is that the one from AudioKit??? If so I have their stuff crash in everything I own... try it with out it.
Hi @drcongo Thanks for sharing the video. We'll take a look at those plugins and see if we can reproduce the issues. What plugin settings are you using? Is Force 44k checked in Settings/Audio tab? If so, have you tried unchecking it and reloading the song then?
yeah, a real fun breaker
So I’m confused... is there sarcasm here or am I missing it? You go to save the song and playback stops!??? What’s the deal or wrong with that.
NS2 and Caustic will save without stopping play. I have done entire songs in those apps without ever having to stop playback. It’s a small thing but it’s the way I like to work. That being said, I spent a good part of today working in Zenbeats. After a bit, stopping to save was no big deal.
I also did not have a SINGLE crash and I was using combinations of AU’s and internal fx/instruments including changing them out, deleting them etc. I don’t know why some are having problems but I’m just not seeing it.
The only issue I had over the past week was with SFZ files and I’ve come to the conclusion that sforzando on the desktop and Bismarck or Sound Fonts on iOS will provide me with more than enough sounds and they all work fine in Zenbeats. Realistically, I have access to more sources of sounds than I could use in 10 lifetimes so I’m just letting the issue-causing stuff go. Life’s too short!
Downloaded 1.2.2 on my iPad 2018 on iPadOS 13.5.1, rescanned my 64 AUv3 plugins without an issue.
Not a power user but haven’t had any crashes at all...
🧐
Updated to latest iOS over night and switched off Force 44k and so far its leg hasn’t fallen off. Looking forward to having a proper play now, thanks everyone.
I guess they try to avoid situations such as this one, where some plugins crash the host all the time: https://intua.net/forums/index.php?p=/discussion/8104/beatmaker-3-crashes-when-loading-plugins
But yeah, it is quite annoying as a first experience for a user. Would be better if they did this in the background without intrusion, then at the end alerted the user of plugins that from now would go into quarantine until they're updated.
