Like the idea of these but conversions are carried out "on a secure cloud server" for quite a few file types so you'd be sending data over the Internet - they say files are immediately deleted from the server but do I trust them?

Oops, I didn't notice it. Seems there's no free lunch... But hope I'm wrong.

  • Thanks @Proppa

@enkaytee yea didn’t see that either. Not sure.

  • Cheers @SNystrom ive been waiting for a swam sale since my trumpet beta recently expired.

  • edited April 2021

And it's all Audio Modeling apps – all the Brass plus the new Strings that dropped today. (Mercifully there are only four of those, or my bank manager would be seeking a quiet word.)

  • edited April 2021

I was just gonna say that, all Audio Modeling Apps - All Brass, Trumpet, Horn, Tuba, and now all the new Strings, including the bundles are on sale through May 31st. Apps are discounted by 33%. The bundles are discounted by an additional 15% as well. Cheers all!

  • Which of the swam apps are the most “must have“?

  • Hi Gang

Is there a swam strings bundle? There’s non showing in the UK App Store.

    Thanks.

  • @Jusch1995, just my opinion... if I could only have four... Flugelhorn , Euphonium, Cello, Double Bass.

Okay thank you 🙏 not the trumpet?

  • edited April 2021

@Jusch1995 Yes, the trumpet, if five.... folks love it, it’s a bit bright for me, tho the “Miles” preset is nice and the mutes are good. I prefer the more mellow Flug

As far as “must haves”, it depends which instruments you would prefer for the style of music you make. They are very realistic when played with an expression controller. I wouldn’t say one is necessarily better than the others, any more than the real life instruments aren’t necessarily better or worse than their counterparts.

Six months ago, I would have said all SWAM sounds are compatible, except maybe the violin coming up a bit short; however, this new version of the violin and viola sound MUCH more realistic in tone than the previous desktop version IMO. V3 strings is definitely an improvement over V2.

Yes that’s what I thought, I’m mostly making edm and love to bring some realistic instruments in. Can I play them expressive with an xkey air when I insert them as an auv3 (with the modwheel)? Or is the auv3 version limited in its expressiveness?

  • These Swam instruments don't require a special player, do they?

That is the first time in history anyone has called a euphonium “essential.” 😂. Just kidding, from a former trombonist and tubist. (Tuba-ist?)

  • Does anyone know if swam woodwinds are coming? My dad would love those for his aerophone (and would make a nice Father’s Day gift if they’re coming). I don’t think he was too interested in the respiro synth, he wants realistic sounds.

They have plans to release them. They announced summer 2021 as a tentative date but they always seem to be a few months behind schedule so perhaps late this year is a more realistic estimation

Oh cool, sounds like a Christmas present then!

They are mpe so they work best with an app (keyboard/controller/sequencer) that sends midi MPE out, but you can send regular midi by simply switching the midi channel, to channel 2. Any midi will play the instrument on midi ch 2.

  • Music Notator is Free usually $8.99.

Doesn’t have the best reviews but there is only 3 and they are from ages ago, so who knows.... It looks halfway decent.

If the strings are like the brass instruments, they can be played with normal MIDI. The horns at least can run as legacy MIDI with no special setup or MPE . Only the GeoSWAM instruments in GeoShred need trickery.

My fault. You are totally right I confused the Swamies.

Just wanted to say thanks, @Poppadocrock for this thread and your work on it. It's one of the few, if not only threads I always check when I'm on here. In fact, now I come to think of it, this thread is probably the reason why I come here so often. Thank you. It's people like you who are the foundations of these communities.

  • Cubasis wow. Didn’t someone say that they always do a sale before a new release?

It's more than often (not to say always) the case 😃

I guess it’s quite rewarding to get a free upgrade after making a bargain 😀 and on the other hand if the new release has some killer features it makes no sense to wait for the next sale. I hope they are coming up with a fully implemented AUv3 multi in/out. I don‘t dare to hope for Midi learn for the mixer, though.
