^^^ gotta agree with this
Edit: with its quirks like a random occasional skip of the first slice of the arp.
One small thing I wish all the apesoft/amazing noises apps would do is add an initialized setting. I can't find them to save my life and I don't like tweaking presets. Always wind up having to make one myself and then I forget to save it as an Init pad before I put my own stuff onto it, hahaha.
I admire apesoft, but don't get on with their GUIs very well. No doubt my end of the continuum, but there it is.
+1. Samplr is so outstanding as an instrument. iDensity and Borderlands are amazing as both sound fuel and effects, and I would've paid 400 for a hardware effect that does what they do pre-iPad integration. I have gotten quite a bit out of similar products in hardware format: the Dep2a and Red Panda Particle
for instance... and the Anti-Nautilus by Sonic Crayon was my dream sound mangler pre-iPad... But now? These three apps are sound sculpting marvels. I hold Samplr in a higher regard only because I can make truly beautiful things out of any sound. The strings are my favorite.
LOVE Apesoft/Amazing Noises string of hits lately. I'll admit I do not know what I'm doing, but I just add automated LFOs to every parameter and tweak a bit here and there and it's just lovely. iPulsaret, iDensity, Stria, Reverb FDN, Sparkle ... Mayhemic Bliss!
Never got SamplR, both literally and figuratively, though I've watched a number of demos. Just can't see it working in my world. I could very well be wrong, but there you go. I'm all in for Apesoft and loving the barely controlled chaotic majesty![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Can't hardly believe you don't have SamplR, but perhaps we all should have one good unopened bottle hidden in the lampshade of ourselves somewhere.
you mean in idensity? i like loading in the chorus of a pop song. i used the chorus of avril lavigne - when you're gone as the basis of a track that started an album and it sounded huge
one of the things i appreciate most about idensity is how you can navigate your way around drums with it really well. if you try to do the same thing with samplr's ebow it doesn't work as well because you can hear the drum too clearly.
I almost got Samplr when it first came out- but it never really got me excited- iDensity has been much more useful- but I recently started using Sliver for hands on sample manipulation and prefer it - Borderlands looks interesting as well- for most sampling I prefer Mitosynth-
If Samplr, iDensity and Borderlands had a 3 way the resulting lovechild would be a thing of beauty
That's basically the thing (along with having other granular options) that has kept me away from iDensity and family. MF2K got me interested again though. $15 for the bundle of iDensity, Stria and IPulserat seems a great deal. Fear it will just be another $15 in unopened apps though.
this.
I have the family, and acquired at full price, and I still hold out hope.

that.
these
Ice pulse: what? The chapman stick rules. Iplay the 8 and 10 string, no ego tho bro!
I'm only kidding. It makes me think of the excesses of prog. Tony Levin, etc. And I loves me some TL.
Oh yea I dig. The prog thing gets silly and repetitive. I was a crimsonite for a while but now I like their improv stuff form the 90s. And also the whole :I need more strings to compensate and show off how bad ass I am. For me the badassery was already so prevalent in me that I just skyrocketed into complete lord or the harmonic universe. (JK haha!)
But I agree with you on samplr and the huge differences. Also the epicness of samplr as a new instrument basically. After your locked and loaded samplr really is an instrument. I density not so much but Im a newbie on that app.
Always a big KC fan. I place them in a more experimental camp than dull mannerists like ELP, which I consider to be pretty conventional, overall.
But when I see a chapstick, I always think of those mock 6-necked guitars. Haw.
Yea I wish that stigma kinda thing wasn't there. Trust me I get "bleep" from everyone from live sound engineers to other bassist. Then they see I actually am a chill dude and show them the instrument is serious, one I consider next to the grand piano in harmonic possibility. Im excluding microtonal stuff
Anyway in sampler I record to the click track and then its like not on the grid at all. Like I have to manually place all the markers for it to be proper. I must be forgetting some setting.
I didn't really get idensity at all, despite hours of trying to get anything musical out of it, but ipulsaret seems like a more in depth version of Samplr's bow tool. It did what I really wished Samplr could do, which is be able to transpose the pitch of the bow tool, with a midi keyboard, so you can do chord changes.
I bought idensity because of this thread but I have to say I'm finding is totally un-musical. In fact, using present continuous isn't quite right. I found it un-musical until I've deleted it.
@SUPADOM EMPTOR!
same
Not really comparable.Samplr is more like a mini daw and idensity a granular soundscaper. Both very cool apps.
Can you play them both at the same time? Ie have long samples running in iDensity and play Samplr over the top?
How the hell do you loop a section of an audio stream in iDensity?
Edit: never mind, got it. I suppose I should read the manual more.
Ha ha. I started this thread nearly a year ago.
Now I 'get' Samplr a lot better, I completely agree with the above![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Sure, you can do that, with a little help from, say, Loopy; open every app in AUM or Audiobus, set Samplr to receive clock from Loopy, set the same tempo in both iDensity and Loopy (or just in AUM and Link will take care of sync), switch on Link on every sample you want to use in iDensity and there you go. I use Loopy here as a sync-intrerface to Samplr because the the latter 'doesn't like' to receive clock from just any app capable of sending MIDI out/tempo but happens to be friends with Loopy so this is how I get Samplr synced to my workflow.
Haha @DaveMagoo this is a great song. But I almost accidentally stole it as I'm playing around with idensity right now and took a break to read this thread. I just remembered being blown away by this strange beautiful song coming out of nowhere like God was speaking to via iDensity then trying to figure out which settings / sample iDensity was playing to save it when I realized I must've accidentally hit the soundcloud play button without realizing it.
I was actually a little scared as where the fuck was this song coming from, then thinking what great sounds then feeling retarded.
Thanks
Wow! Really enjoying this song!
SoundCloud Link not working though.
