Holy crap.
The ONE thing that'll make me go to 9.
Does not work on older ipad models
I have a Mini Retina. Will it work?
I think devices that connect via a 30-pin cable are not supported - you need a Lightning cable
Got that.
That is cool. And, seems to me, long overdue. Thanks for sharing!
As was pointed out elsewhere, it's only one way. You can't stream to iOS (yet). I don't see why that would be written in stone.
Anyway, I tried it, and it worked fine first time. Not a hack or anything (for a change).
Why do this instead of Music IO or similar app... Which will have options and two way audio?
I got it working w/ my iPhone 6, but it's a tad wonky. No latency to speak of, but I couldn't get an audio signal until I created a Software track, fired that off, then went back to the audio track. Then it seems to drop out when you do something like open a plugin window (in this case, pedalboard).
I wonder if USB Logic Remote is finally a thing, now. That'd be tight.
Very nice... but el capitan would break a lot plug-ins. So i must wait a few months.
Someone should develop this functionality for Windows too!
Good advice, lots of plugins broken.
Sweet so this means all the money I spent on iPad audio interfaces is now worthless on the second hand market... Oh well.
For anyone who's tried this, does it work through a powered USB hub? Because then you could really get cookin'
@Icepulse - YES please USB Logic Remote functionality...
I just tried recording SynthX and BeepBoop, 2 great sounding apps with no working AB or IAA support into Reason and it worked and it was super easy. I don't think that's possible with Music IO. Or is it? I only have studiomux and I think it only works with AB or IAA supported apps.
MusicIO already works on Windows...
Firejan you are right, it seems to be a lot more simple for a quick record to the mac.
At the same time, the other apps have some tricks that make it worth the purchase.
Does this work for transmitting midi from iPad/iPhone to Mac or only audio??
I would like to see Apple make this possible with 2 iPads. Just one small box between the two with cables connecting them and a further output to connect to Audio and power.
That's great, thank you, I somehow missed that!
Yeah, those ones only work via IAA or Audiobus. This gives some new life to some apps that never got in the bus or never updated to Audiobus 2.
Apple's new feature is USB Audio Only, but you can do USB MIDi for free with the midimittr app.
Ok cool thanks. Good to know. Will try this out ASAP
I wonder if my OP-1 wil work?
(Push)
This works great!
Works with iPhone too, and in other DAWs. Just tested it with Ableton Live and the Sunrizer XS.
How many ins and outs are people seeing? On a different post someone mentioned they saw 18in/2out but i only see 2in/0out on my iPad air 1 -> Ableton.
Ive tried my macbook pro and air, and also same with my iPhone 6..
For me this is just perfect since I'm mainly using Renoise on the computer, no need to open additional apps to get sound out from the iPad and no need to worry if an app is IAA or AB compatible...
