Funny how those of us of a certain age who didn't dance (too busy in the back room) still think of the suffix-gate as a Chuck Colson production.

I had to look up who you are talking about but yeah, my first thought was some kind of scandal over corporate/government affairs.

For the record, northerners always danced.

  • Anybody know of a synth with MIDI out or MIDI program that has a Phase 84 groove gate-like feature?

  • Midi out?

If I'm reading you correctly then playing out of StepPolyArp's keyboard might be your answer. You can set up arp-like rhythms but they can act like a simple gate if you like.

  • Definitely turnado. The great thing is that it allows you to lfo any available effect. I've recently used volume + phaser, pan + crush + sample rate. Also lfos combined at different speeds and waveshapes. It isn't actual gate effect but works just as well if not better.

Sorry if it's been covered upthread, it Is getting long

Well duh, plum forgot about it. Thanks. My older apps sometimes gather dust despite there being a reason I purchased them first

I LOVE StepPolyArp!! It has always been SO Perfect!!! If only... if only... IF ONLY it was on the iPhone!!!! :-(

  • If you want a rythmic gate, all you need is AUM and a midi sequencer. I use Modstep and I just set a certain midi note on certain channel to control aux send level of the channel I want to be rythmically cut and send that aux bus to input of another channel. Then I just programmed a nice sequence in Modstep and made sure it is the right note on right channel. And I send it to Aum by setting it as instrument on current track. Then I just go in to Aum midi routing matrix and set signal to go from AUM drstination to MIDI control. Sound source can be anything and gating sounds nice this way.

    Insert another Nixon joke here.

  • Always funny reading these threads from years back. I often struggle to identify with my writing.

    Gotta be personal growth etc.

  • Controlling aux send volume in AUM works in iPhone too. I made sequencer in zMors modular.

  • At any rate I think turnado will be the first to go AU.
