Crystal XT update - 10/31/15
Big pads seem somehow more stable? Top tier iOS synth $5?

I love this synth!! Very, very powerful monosynth!! Desktop patches are compatible. :-)
It's a very good synth. So is the VST version.
It's one of the very first apps I played with early on, and I do enjoy it - but now that I am re-visiting apps I find the slight reconfiguration of the Breed interface a little less likeable than the way it was.
It is no mono synth! You can set it to poly but the cpu hit is huge!
Way more stable now.
It still opens up upside down every single time, however, I listed it under the great unsung apps in the other thread. The breed button along with the father and mother buttons totally rocks! I spent an hour or so just auditioning sounds and it always has a lot of interesting stuff ! I do need to revisit this more often .
A wolf in formica clothing.
Yes a really good synth, could do with a bit of a design refresh though....
I was waiting for this to be on sale.
Awe man...was looking forward to them fixing this. But my most important issue was losing my custom made patches. I love this synth and that alone made me shelve it. Will check it out later.

Love this synth apart from two things, it eats CPU and devours your presets too, it has a crazy preset backup system that has a tendency to overwrite your presets, a long time ago, back in the age of the 'one', I created loads of presets, breeding then tweaking them, after several days I realised it had made them vanish, well a lot of them, some I found in the backups it created, every time it ran, I gave up on it, couldn't quite work out why it was doing this, but if it still is, beware, it's a real pain.
One of those early apps that I bought that was replaced with a new pay-again version. Annoyware.
This was so odd I had to look it up. The dev released the one that's $1 now first, then in 2010 added midi and released XT (the one that's now $5)? When I got XT both versions already existed, I wondered why there were 2 if midi was the only difference...
I updated and I still can't get dropbox to work with it although i followed the instructions to setup the folder in dropbox exactly to the t. Anyone having this issue. Everysingle time tap the dropbox icon in Crystal it closes Crystal xt, it actually stays open but it sends me to the home page, then I have to hit the home button again to get into Crystal xt. Can't figure this one out. Any ideas?
I think the new version was for AB integration being added. Just annoyed me at the time, but didn't really like it anyway so never bought the second version.
I like it. Lot of boom for the room and very playable.
Was almost too big for the device for a while. Also a great vst, for free, if you're using pc, tra la.
@Musikaman4Christ
I have no idea how the preset saving system works. I notice that the imported .fxb from Dropbox, some stuff from Tom Conrardy for example end up amended to what ever bank I have open and that change creates yet another backup .fxb...probably same with the presets I've made, I've found them in weird backups too but not always?
I have no problem with Dropbox import, you mentioned the file structure thing: in Dropbox the three levels of files, you probably have that sorted, Dropbox/Apps/CrystalSynth/CrystalPatchBanks/your.fxb
I quite like this. Even tho I have the VST version. Feels nicer to play with. Also, lm glad the dev is still supporting the ageing app.
Love the sounds, hate the UI.
It hooked right up to Dropbox for me. No issues, folder structure created automatically.
I hear you. For some reason I have decided to love this app in spite of the UI. It is what it is etc and I guess I get enough out of the noises to put up with the 1997 look and feel....
That's what I don't understand. I created the folder myself. Will delete it and see if that works. Also, do you highlight a preset or just tap the dropbox icon in crystal?
It's a little strange. At one point I only had option to upload to Dropbox. Then only option to download. Also, banks appear to get renamed when uploading. Still trying to get my head around it. Sounds great though.
No updates on my one since 2013, but still selling it on the App Store.
Perhaps but it still sounds amazing for a mono synth, not able to get poly to work on my air.
AppStore updates ongoing - no updates for vst you mean?
No, the Crystal Synth app on the App Store - which was the first version. Still available, last update 8 Oct 2013.
Oh I got it: I was looking at the $5 one, XT. That one continues to receive updates...not sure why he keeps the $1 one on the store, trial deal maybe?
If you go into one of the editing pages, you can select poly or mono at the bottom of the voice selections.

It has a poly button, but iOS version isn't polyphonic, http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/tutorial.html#tips The section at the bottom of the page that explains differences between desktop and iOS versions.
