Wow, would love to know as that would be a mighty portable setup!
Not all speakers need an extra interface, once again the ILoud excels over the others.

I know, that's why I thought I should mention the JBL needs an interface. So that's a point for iLoud. But is it also water resistant like the Xtreme? Point for JBL. And I think that input gain pot would drive me crazy having instruments with very different output signals. It's already a bit of a drag on my otherwise very nice iRig HD. One thing I noticed with the Xtreme is that it hums when you play with the charger plugged in. Maybe could be fixed with a better charger but the battery is huge. I wish it used a more common voltage like 5 or 12 Volts, though. It uses 19V, so can't easily be charged without 100-230V. What's the Voltage for the iLoud?
Perhaps we give you a quarter of a point for the speaker condom. Let us know how that works out for you playing in the rain. 100 Points deducted for having to replace an iPad that is not. Actually I do not need to even touch the gain control but nice to have if I do need it for a signal that is coming in too hot so yet once again point for iLoud. No hum either another point goes to the winner iLoud.
Is "we" you and IKM? Don't know about your points system. It looks like you're very biased. Why are you getting that defensive about it? It's just a speaker after all. I don't plan on playing in the rain but it's good to know it can handle some water in case you use it outside or in the bathroom as a speaker. But I see you're very pleased with your iLoud so enjoy. I'm happy with the JBL. Got a nice bag for it now as well.
I know what you mean I just came from the bathroom with mine in fact. It is great to be able to hold both my speaker and iPad Air in my hand and easily carry it wherever I want. Actually however the iLoud is not just a speaker as was pointed out already . The extreme is just a speaker and a nice one for your need I have no doubt.
I just purchased the iloud earlier this week. Great little speaker. But for me, it is just a speaker. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong with the setup. Instrument cable from guitar into iloud. Supplied 1/8 cable from Ipad pro into iloud, but sound from guitar. I've tried Amplitude, Tonestack, Bias Amp. Nothing. Everything else works. I'm getting sound from my ipad & iphone, both bluetooth and cabled. Is it possible there is something wrong with the built-in iRig? I put in a support ticket to IK Multimedia. Can anyone think of anything I've missed?
Just to make sure: did you check the input gain isn't turned down? Maybe you got a lemon there...
I must remember to proof read my posts.
Supplied 1/8 cable from Ipad pro into iloud, but NO sound from guitar.
@Munibeast Yeah. I messed around with the input gain as well with no luck. It just might be a lemon. Very disappointing! At least I should be able to return and probably will try again. I do like the sound coming out of this speaker.
I don't remember now if it shipped with the gain turned down or not but that is an excellent observation. Of course, the other alternative is never out of the realm of possibility. The guitar aspect of this unit really is a remarkable convenience once you get it sorted out with IK. I was jamming with my MiniNova and iSpark two nights ago and wow I had about three hours of temporary heaven! Yesterday I brought my rig over to show my friend and we never turned it up past three quarter volume , it really puts out some serious juice. Heck Matt never even bothered to plug in his fender amp as we were having too much fun with me setting up apps for him to try the guitar with. MIDI guitar2 totally blew his mind! If you could only see the expressions on his face as I gradually switched him from symphony, to brass and woodwind patches ect. In IM1.
Oh yeah, the best part was when the door to door evangelists stopped by to talk and they never said a word hahahaha! They just smiled and enjoyed for almost an hour before giving up to move on to the next house.
ILoud sounds great with bass. I was mucking with it last weekend with my old Ripper. Punchy and loud. I think you're always going to have a bit of a problem with a portable speaker if you want to sit under a band with drums and guitar. But iLoud works pretty good. One thing, have to make sure there is some room behind it - the bass port pushes a lot of air, and it sounds better if it has space. Also sounds better on a flat surface.
IKM prices have gone up because the dollar has gone up against everything. They got more expensive in Canada as well. Managed to get mine at a good price just before the locals raised prices.
@Philh0954 When I got my Iloud, I plugged my guitar into it and connected to my iPhone running amplitude. No sound. Ran through every setting and couldn't find anything wrong. Then I unplugged, turned the iPhone off and on and tried again. Worked like a charm. Sounds really good with all my amp apps. And drums sounds great too. My bass sounds as it's supposed to. All in all, a top product.
Thanks! Tried it on my Ipad Pro, Air2 & iphone 6 plus to no avail. I'll wait to hear back from @ikmultimedia since I put a support ticket in. I have a feeling I'll be returning it for a replacement as I really like the sound, portability and at least the promise of flexibility of the iloud.
I hope it works out for you.
Yes Phil, do let us know what you find out please.
@Durwin99 Bose sound link mini. I own the most recent release and I couldn't be happier with the sound quality it produces. Battery life is about 10 hours and the range is 30 ft. I also plug it into my interface as an aux , so I can mix using it as a reference for highs lows mids. It is a terrific little speaker and I would recommend it 10000 times. Also when it's on as an 'AUX' and not Bluetooth you'll experience no latency (Obviously) it'll act as a normal output.
Just got off the phone with Sweetwater tech support (That's who I purchased it from). Still couldn't get it working. They're sending a new iloud one to replace it. I'm just happy it wasn't me. I sometimes have a tendency to miss the obvious.
Has anyone compared the iLoud's internal iRig against a digital interface (eg iRig HD, Sonic Port etc)? I tried the iLoud by itself through Amplitube and the quality was average. The speaker has amazing quality sound for its size but I think you might need an external interface for top quality guitar sounds.
While not a comparison mine has no audible noise at all when used. I had no need to compare it . Never liked amplitube however and found it was noisy compared to say bias or jam up pro xt.
Oh, so it's not lightning? One would expect the quality to be inferior to the iRig HD then. I found a broken iLoud on eBay which I may buy and try to repair. The guy dropped it on the floor from a table and it stopped making any sound shortly after. So it's risky but a very low price. If I can fix it and end up liking it better than the Xtreme I'll keep it and return the JBL.
Dropped it on to the floor you say? Ouch! Hard to say what and how many components suffered damage. You realize a test will not be conclusive given this scenario?
@Tritonman @Jakersjaw
Final results of my iLoud experience. I received my new speaker from Sweetwater and it works fine. I had talked with IK's tech support and they thought it was a TRRS cable problem which turned out not to be the case. They sent me a new cable but at that point it didn't matter. The one thing I have to say though is that either the cable (I've tried 3 different ones) or the 1/8 connection into the iloud is a little funky. Even on the replacement speaker I get a crackling when I move the cable around. Not happy about that but at least I have a fully working speaker now. Great sound!
@Philh0954
Great that it worked out for you.
I received the broken iLoud today. It seems like it was made as a throw away product that is not supposed to be fixed. Lots of glue on most connections. So far I was able to separate and inspect the individual parts cursing and swearing while struggling with the gluey mess. The only obvious defect I could find yet is that 2 of the 4 speakers lost the connection to their magnets. I wonder if I could just glue them back on. But the other major problem is that it doesn't turn on, no charge light, no sign of life at all. I did try plugging a guitar in and connecting the iLoud with the iPhone and I could see the signal is actually going into the phone (and it's not through the mic). It doesn't go out though, and on the signal meter in amplitube it doesn't show any outgoing signal either. So I don't know exactly what else could have been destroyed in the fall. Maybe the protective circuit in the battery pack could have broken. Weird that the charging and power light doesn't light up at all though, since that should be pretty much at the beginning of the circuitry from the looks of it. I wish I knew more about electronics...
Yup, nasty things happen with a fall like that and the problem could be in more than one location. I hope you did not pay a lot.
23€. I'm not very optimistic I will be able to fix it.
Look for cracks in the circuit boards near the power supply and solder joints that may have popped loose. I'm sure it's mostly SMT components, so it might be difficult to find anything obvious with the naked eye. Check areas around the heaviest components for damage and check solder joints on pots, switches, and jacks or any other components that are also connected to the chassis. If you really want to dig into it, test the continuity of the traces in the power supply section.
Usually, it's not terribly difficult to find the issue with electronics that don't power on at all because you only have one or two small areas to check for damage.
Thanks for your help, @Sonicflux, I'll have another look at it tomorrow and will keep your hints in mind.
Hiya Munibeast, from what you described the iLoud isn't easily serviced or serviceable without damaging the housing case? Would you take and post here a photo of the innards?
Thanks.
