Hiya Munibeast, from what you described the iLoud isn't easily serviced or serviceable without damaging the housing case? Would you take and post here a photo of the innards?
    Thanks.

Coming up tomorrow. Gotta get some sleep now.

  • Anyone tried the Audio Pro T3? It looks like a nice hi-fi speaker

  • So I actually got somewhere with the iLoud repair. I was able to press the magnets back on the speakers and found that it turns on and works with a 12v power supply in place of the battery pack, which is 3 18650 cells in series. I measured voltage of the individual cells and it's around 3.1V. I'm not sure if this means the batteries are too low or something or if maybe something in the safety circuitry is toast. I have no other way to charge them and it doesn't seem to work inside the iLoud. At least no charging light turns on when I try. So I don't know but I think I'll try to get another battery pack and see if it works then. I also found that the trrs mini jack was busted so I fixed it with some super glue and bent the contact for the left channel back into place. So after all it's looking pretty good. Got an iLoud for 23€. But will need new batteries. I'll post pics later.

  • Here are some pics:

  • Sweet! iLoud Porn! Honey I will be there in a minute....?!

Wow, no wonder this little box feels so solid in my hands, there really is a lot going on in there. Thanks for sharing the nudie picks of my sweety. Makes me want to go slip my jack in and play with her some more. :D

  • I've had two different iLouds and have tried 3 different TRRS cables and I've had crackling problems whenever the cables were connected and I touched or moved them even a tiny bit. Cable problem? Connection into iLoud problem. Anyone else have this issue?

  • edited March 2016

This one dropped on to that socket so it deformed it. It was crackly then but I desoldered the shielding and bent the contacts back in place. I would have replaced the jack but the spare that I had didn't match the smd layout unfortunately. I hope it'll continue to work for a while. Now I have to find a replacement for the batteries, assuming that's where the other problem lies.

  • @Philh0954, yes, I have that issue as well. It's annoying. I think it's the cable, because if I touch it where it goes into the iPad, I get noise, and it's not moving in the iLoud. Or it just has something to do with how the circuit works. It's weird.

  • Holy tear down pr0n! Thanks for pic posts Munibeast. An online check of those labeled rechargable batteries produced hits from alibaba.com, all-battery.com etc, which bodes well if and when they ever need replacing. I haven't had any crackling issues with any cable connections to speak of. Thanks again & hope you sort out those other issues.

  • As of Jan-2019 is the IK Multimedia iLoud bluetooth speaker still worth it? https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iloud/index.php?p=specs

Or do you have other recommendations for a small speaker/monitor?

  • I've tested a lot of different models and with every question you ask there should be a short list of expectations and use case. There is no "best BT speaker".
My own preference is listening to music at low levels, and I want quite a prominent loudness curve so there is strong bass and trebles at low levels, plus a rather smooth midrange so nothing gets exagerrated or suppressed.
After trying out many models between $40 and $220, I've kept only the JBL Charge 2 plus which has more bass than the Charge 3 at low levels.
Of course, the Charge 3 can go louder...
None of the BT speakers really works when playing over BT live because of their inherent latency. It's good to have a line input for using it live.

I intend to use Bluetooth for listening and a line input when playing. I bought a JBL Charge 4 for my daughter and was impressed by its sound but it has a tendency to turn off as soon as I don't play. Maybe ok for the battery but not so good when playing. If there was a way to stop this "sleep" mode it would be great.

Will you play your guitar over it?

    Linnstrument > iPad > speaker

  • Might be that you can only disable the auto-power-off by either always feeding it a low-volume signal or by attaching an external power bank to keep it charging/powered externally.
When playing the Linn, I bet you need higher volumes at times so one option is the JBL Extreme, or something like the Alto Uber or the LD Systems Road Jack series if you need even higher battery-powered volume.

Hey, they do look good, especially the ones in a nice leather case!
The speakers in the box though look a bit like cheap material ... I'd really like to hear them live.

Beautiful! I’ll go for something less expensive, though.

I was thinking about this: https://www.audiopro.com/en/product/addon-t3/#white

I’ve checked the Alto Uber and the LD. They look nice and more pro than I am. I see now that I forgot to mention that I’m not playing gigs nor with others. Just me in the living room.
