Well this has definitely turned out to be a "Poseidon Adventure".

    Nice one centurion, like it.

  • I've got most of them, and this one is very different. It took me a while to discover it's charms but once you do you're rewarded with rich, unique, and very versatile sounds. I really like it, and if it gets a sample import update I'll love it.

Sounded like a yes all the way to the last line, which sounded like a no.

    It's a yes, no?

  • Ok fun and jokes aside now, we've all messed around with @gkillmaster long enough...

    Serious time now

  • I'm begging you. Just buy the humping thing already. Wait, aren't you the bass player for Motorhead?

Don't buy it. Seriously, don't buy it. When in doubt, fire up gadget and discover the gazillions of sounds in that.

Wait, you don't have gadget? Uh oh, new thread.

Don't encourage the 'should I but Gadget, yeas or nays only thread' haha

  • Everybody is whispering vaguenesses! (except for @knewspeak). When you tell me no, it makes me want it more!! Which makes me resist even harder. @mrufino1 I do have Gadget but totally forgot I had it. @Ben, I am not the bass player for Motorhead. I don't really have time for music. I am so close. Not hearing anything definitive, or if I do its just because you all want this to end. That is not a reliable certainty.

  • No time for music? Keel haul him......

Buy WaveMapper instead, it creates sounds for me it's so easy to program.

  • Me how from Schrödinger's cat so un-certainly principled.

  • When you say "Not hearing anything definitive", and yet lots of people have said a simple "Yes", how much more definitive can they be?!

For all the people who have bought it, and are telling him, not to buy it.. Shame on you!

For all the people who haven't bought it, and are saying buy it... Shame on you too.

    For everyone else...

    Oh..

    There is no one else!

I almost started a thread called "iMaschine 2, should I buy it or not?"

  • Thirty years of hoarding synths aha.....and finally we get to play them. He looked abreast the dust ridden keys and flexed his fingers......

.....should I play the DX or should I warm up the Organ.....

    Yay or nay prey tell....

  • Jesus wept.

  • As well he might.

Don't have time for music? I'm confused as to why you need a synth then?

If you have gadget though, save your $10 on this one and go check out gadget, you won't want or need a synth for quite a while.

This thread is funny, so I dont mean to be serious in the middle of it all, but that's my real advice, dig into gadget.

And to get back to the tone of the thread, I think we are all aware here that Gadget is the only app that brings full joy.

  • my advice: relax. don't buy it. wait until it is no longer on sale. then, notice if you regret that you didn't buy it when it was on sale and if yes, simply wait for the next sale. when the next sale comes, buy it.

Ooh controversial ;) I've got both, and nearly all the Gadget IAP's. And while I love Korg and Gadget, I rarely use it. Dunno why - just feels a bit too.....rigid.

On many levels Poseidon isn't as 'good' as Gadget, but I'll play with it a lot more, and it'll be a regularly used tool in Monzos box.

  • Gadget is good yep sureeeeee, but 'bring full joy', not really. But the initial question does seem like.......well.........as those annoying sayings go......whatever (gestures) and laughs.

  • yeah, poseidon. I really like it and, to my surprise, it had made me play again with Tera, too -- maybe because they are both so entirely different?

  • I don't know much about art, but I know what I like.

I just meant I don't have time right now because of agonizing over wether to add another app to my growing list of never used synths. Sorry to mislead there. I noticed that my dog gets really confused when I give him 2 balls to choose from. Going from one to the other in rapid succession. And I have several hundred synths. It all is a little stifling. Must listen to a few more Eno lectures on limitations and obstructions. I seem to work best that way. Would probably be best if I scrapped everything I own and keep my M1 and get Reaktor.

Any case, thanks everyone for the really fun thread and I've decided I have to get Poseidon now in honor of it. I really do love the visual aspect of the app and want to support that direction. Thanks for being such good sports! pushing button as I type.

    p.s.:

I work mainly on my iMac OR iPad separately and just now trying to use them interchangeably. Now I have to decide which interface to use; Studiomux, MIDI LE (midimttr) or MusicIO. So don't worry. the agony continues.

    what is "Po"?
