Absolutely none.
Thanks
Yeah it's a total bummer. Do you have the iPhone version as well?
/private note for your eyes only: Don't push him on this one Matt, I think Rich is pretty close to the Animoog Rage Edge about now...
Nice assumption there buddy. I'm just asking him a fucking question. Can I do that without you making assumptions?
Erm. Rich. I was taking the piss out of myself/the internet by pretending it was a facile private comment, which, erm, it wasn't. I was actually trying to help lighten the mood, not the other way around, but obviously failed spectacularly. Will PM you.
@Rich303
Ease up, get to know the folks around here a little. @JohnnyGoodyear has a witty written style of humor that most here are accustomed to, @Monzo sits on fences, and @Kaikoo experiences full joy with apps other than gadget, etc. It's a friendly group here, willing to share knowledge and be supportive of each other. We'll know you now as the guy who loves animoog and you should know it's all in good fun and that we've all had our share of frustrations. Ask me about positive grid or retronyms if you feel like getting me to rant...
It's all good, take a deep breath and stay around to be part of the community.
Agreed. You'll find this group to be very helpful, if you'll allow them to be.
I was able to put some custom presets into Animoog on my iPad by puting them in a folder called "presets", which I dragged into iTunes. That "presets" folder had previously been copied to my PC from my iPad using iFunbox. I do not know if that functionality still exists, as I understand iOS 9 broke some of that. But it's worth looking into, if you're still interested in trying.
you guys make a good point. I'm new here, so it's easy to misunderstand some comments, especially when I've been frustrated trying to sort out the IAP issue. But thanks for coming forward and welcoming me here. That's definitely cool of you guys. I'm very easy-going. It's just been a stressful week with everything.
I'm on iOS 9. I tried using iFunBox earlier today. But unfortunately, I had no luck. But thanks for the suggestion.
Well understood, and welcome officially.
Apple locked us out of that kind of stuff, ifunbox used to be able to do a lot more. There are ways to access those files if you jailbreak, but the two times I had my phone in that state it messed up more things than it helped and I went back to the factory settings.
Thanks for the welcome. ifunbox was cool when I found out about making your own timbres for Animoog a few years ago. I haven't used it much since then. So today, I was surprised with how limited it had become. I never wanted to jailbreak my devices since there were so many problems. I don't wanna get into a rant about Apple. But I'll definitely say that they're putting too much effort into locking people out of everything and not putting enough effort into perfecting things to make the music making experience more enjoyable... iOS 9 and IAA are two solid examples of that. But hopefully enough developers get through to them. Having an iPad to make music is really cool. It's come a long way in the past 4 years that I've observed. But many times, I feel like I should've waited a bit longer to buy an iPad since more often than not, there's always some sort of issues that make me spend more time troubleshooting than actually making music. It's a good thing I still have an MPC2000, an SP-404SX, a x0xb0x, and a Mac Mini with Reason 7 as an alternative for when I need a break from all the iOS madness.
You can access files, that are a part of the installation file, without ifunbox/jailbreak. Just need to locate the corresponding .ipa file, rename it to .zip and unpack it
Obviously, it won't work for IAPs that you need to download after purchase. But for everything else, it works just fine. For example, I was able to copy all the default sounds from iMaschine and iMPC in no time
Thanks for the tip. I remember someone sharing all the iMPC samples and it's good to know how it was done.
Just wanted to add that while I agree that Animoog is the one to go for, iMini is still excellent in its own right. Animoog is a next level Moog, iMini is more like a classic Moog. Neither is the same as my vintage Prodigy though.
How about this, as I've already got Animoog. iMini, or Native Instruments Monark (not iOS, but a highly regarded Minimoog emulation) as that is currently 50% off?
Would one of you good folks be willing to do me a little favor regarding Animoog? the purpose is to see whether it is at all accessible with VoiceOver, the IOS screen reader for blind folks.
I'm a blind guy, and have wanted to give Animoog a try, but don't want to spend the $ on a boondoggle.
So, If you could please:
Go in to settings > general > accessibility and first, click the option to set your "accessibility shortcut" to Voiceover.
then, go in to Voiceover and switch it on.
The accessibility shortcut will let you turn Voiceover off quickly with a tripple press of the home button. You might want VO off as you navigate around your iDevice because the gestures change, and VO's chattiness might drive you crazy.
Now, please go in to Animoog, tripple press home, and let VO start. Then, touch buttons and controls on the screen. Does Voiceover announce appropriately for what you're touching? Voiceover will almost certainly not let you play the play areas, or xy pads.
On another slightly different topic, how deep is the midi integration on Animoog? If I were to purchase it, and it is really quite unusable with Voiceover, could I control most of the functions via midi?
Could I change presets and twiddle knobs via midi?
Thanks guys!
and
PPG Wave Generator
yeah, its straight.
It also has Audiobus remote support so you can change many things on another device or midi controls.
I love it for a single use app. Don't use it alot with others. Kind of has it's own little universe for me
It's virtual Moog goodness and the truth is that I'll never purchase real Moog gear on my budget. I've got a lot of other stuff I'd rather spend on. So, this may jsut be it.
