First time it's gone on sale in over 3 years. Will this include an upgrade? Isn't there a new version coming?
This is one DAW I never bought.
The included sounds are good and it has an onboard synth, plus midi/wav stem export, IAA fx and instrument slots, AB. But this may signal the new release...promising all that and more
No mention the sequencer, I wonder how much difference is between this app and Music Studio.
Almost exactly the same but MS has better instruments.
You get the upgrade to the new FLM 3 if you have this one, unless they radically changed their stance from a few months ago.
where did they happen to post that we'll get film 3 free?
Maybe here:

Yeah the whole gist of their first announcement was 'Don't update the app if you want to stick with the way it is now.' Which sounds like free update to me.
ahh yeah... nice
Unlike MS, Instruments/drums lean towards electro, modern kits. The sequencer is both piano roll, and Fruit loops style drum sequencer (the buttons). Symphonic stuff is available as iap, good quality. MS lacks the synth. Projects open in desktop fruity loops. MS had some stuff I like, FL other stuff. Oy.
If you type "fruity loops" on the image-line forums it auto-corrects it to FL Studio (after you submit your post).
what bang for buck though, I think I've owned fl since version 2 and upgrades have been free.
Pretty smart/funny on their part...
Harmor synth is a wonder. They do sales frequently, think I got it for $50 a year ago or so...
This is more like it now, I always liked the desktop FL, but the mobile version was really just a naff version of Music Studio, this should be great, in theory, and it is a free upgrade
Wonder when FL Studio Mobile 3 will be released?
I wonder too, they said they were close when they announced it, it's been a while.
I would highly recommend that every one tries out FLM3 when it arrives, I think the GUI is based on what they did with GM Mobile, and that really works for me, nice piano roll, simple interface that does not get in the way.
Image-Line may not be the most outspoken dev's but they do put out quality software, and have an amazing upgrade policy.
I purchased Fruity Loops way back when it just did midi loops with no synths or audio, and have received free updates right up to the current version of FL Studio (Only once did they ask for any contribution towards these upgrades and as I had got the product for next to nothing I was more than happy to pay as it had turned from a simple midi loop player to a fully fledged DAW)
I don't particularly like the current version of FLM, but am eagerly awaiting FLM3 as it is the first time they have developed it themselves and not just skinned an already existing app and then made the file formats common with FL Studio.
It's a shame GM Mobile is not Audio Bus compatible.
AB and link in GM Mobile would be awesome, but then there would be no need for FLM3
Well, there's a video announcing Image Line EOY 30% off everything sale, so I hope GM Mobile will be on sale too.
There have been no updates to GM Mobile apart from one which added sample import, and there are reported issues with the sample import functionality that remain unresolved. I would only buy if you accept that these issues exist and will not be fixed. FLM3 will be a much better investment
Excuse my ongoing ignorance, but what would the right play be here for a current non-user/owner? Buy as is and then be upgraded or wait until 3 comes and buy then?
From what we know FLM3 will be a free update so this could be a way for Image-Line to get people to get it before the new version arrives at some other price point
Yep.
But having one iPad4 and watching whats is happening, I see myself buying FLM 2.5 and find out that 3.0 needs iPad Air 1 or later, 64 bits device or anything else:
"Each FLM 3 Playlist track has an associated ‘rack’. This can contain any number of instrument and effects plugins. The only limit is your CPU power. There are now also automation-clip style tracks that can be edited just as you can now in FL Studio for the desktop. "
It would help to know how it runs v2.5 on iPad4. Website FAQ says "It works on all iOS devices." but it could means that the app is Universal. No clear at all. And description app says nothing about minimum requirements.
We need more info, please.
2.5 runs fine on my ipad 4.
Thanks.
I've been looking at iPhone DAW options lately. How does this compare to BM2?
are you having any sample import issues, and does it have side chain?
@Coloobar
For me the mpc features in BM2 put it a tier above FL...
The only benefit to buying now would be to get a cheaper price and that all depends on if there will be a launch price for FLM3 and if there is will it be lower than the current 30% off. Does anyone recall if there was a launch deal on FL Mobile HD ?
The current offer is nothing to do with FLM specifically it is a general 30% off of all image line products so that includes FL Studio on PC and all plugins
FLM3 is so different to the current version there would be no benefit from a familiarisation perspective.
Version 2.3 runs fine on my iOS7 iPod touch 4th gen. 2.5 needs higher iOS version.
