The audiocopy export used to be the only way to move audio between apps before audiobus, remember? Scary times. Still great for exporting loops as @syrupcore said.

Unbearably fucking cool. One man and his shed. Makes me feel completely redundant and sluglike.
was just thinking today how much of an inspiration this guy has been, and this totally reminded me of patterning.
I urgently wish it was possible to zoom in on the waveform down to sample level in the Patterning browser with the loop brackets.
I desperately need audio export of seamless loops and the ability to load a different kit on each pattern !!!!!
Anyone have any 8bt or 16bt patterning loops to share?
Can understand the second, but not a need over here, but Number 1 is def. Number 1.
my thinking JG, there is just so much you can do with 1 or two patterns with Patterning, that if you could load up different kits / sets of samples into each pattern the potential would be endless, it's like you can have 100 patterns right now but they all have to play the same sounds. I'd like to have a pattern with some drums, another with percussion, another with some found sounds, another with some guitar samples, bits of speech, etc... and have them all playing together.
Yes, I'm all for that^^
I bought Patterning last summer (I think?) and didn't even think twice about clicking "Buy" because it looked great and I wanted to support Ben's work. However, I haven't used it as much as I thought I might, and now that I revisit it, I was surprised to find the lack of a proper loop export feature. MIDI file export also huge for me, as I could see creating a lot of interesting rhythmic ideas due to the unorthodox layout, but then wanting to record different sounds with those through a DAW.
And yes, agree with @supadom that FingerBeat is an underrated example of a rhythm app that does it right in terms of export features.
I'd be willing to pay first if we could get Patterning on the fast track and a list of what's in the update, and an eta of the features I'm interested in. This is the last app you wanna leave on the shelf.
@kobamoto hi there. haven't been on the forum much because i've been working on this pretty major update. i'm hesitant to talk about this, because honestly, it takes a long time to do right, and sometimes much longer than I expect... it could still easily be months away. here's what we have so far : audio export (tracks or master output, bounce as loop, or using timeline). MIDI CC out automation. new timeline editing tools (multiple selection, duplicate insert, duplicate at end) and "reset rotation" in the timeline. inter-app audio clock sync. independent IAA/Audiobus outputs for each track. inter-app audio host transport. re-write of MIDI clock receive and send. custom drum kit images. sample preview in the sample library. there are loose ends to tie up and some other things to finish. then i'll have a beta test. sorry, kits per pattern are not going to be included in this update. i still want to look into the possibility of doing that, but at some point i need to prioritize the features and just get the update finished!
Hi Ben , thank you for the update. I know that being one of the community's fav devs can come with some pressure especially from people like me who can be impatient. I'm not sure what your personal thoughts are on this but I'm aware of how much the community wants to control other apps etc.. with patterning like we want to use fugue machine to control other apps, but I'd just like to point out that Patterning is different in that it's a beat machine and even though I know it would be very cool to control other apps with it and desire this myself, it would be even cooler to be able to do complete beats in it and I think people will realize once they are controlling other apps that they are still limited to just the one instance of a 'pattern'.... It blows my mind to think of there being the capability of playing 8 patterns at one time, with all of the features that the app currently has for patterns it will be beat mayhem to beat nirvana... the divides, the pattern directions, the probablities, etc.... applied to drums and baselines at the same time, constantly evolving I could just go on an on about what it will do for grooves and for even ambient stuff and personally I think that the ability to control other apps with a single pattern pales in comparison... The creative potential of multiple patterns is endless so I hope that this feature will find a good place on your list of priorities if you decide to put it in cause I think it's the only feature that only ask for what is already there x8 and immediately expands the capabilities of the app exponentially.
Thank you so much for building this app.
Patterning ( latest version ) won't open in iOS 9.2.1 on iPad 3 :-(
Anyone else with iPad 3 can check this ?
That update sounds incredible. Really looking forward to it.
FIGHT ON!
Looks like a lot of work there, and will be worth it when it's done , one thing, can you make sure audio export is integrated with AudioShare, if it isn't I personally wouldn't use this feature as I would record in AS or AUM instead, thanks
This would be so great on iPhone
One thing I know causes a crash : using an audio interface with a sample rate other than 44,100 hz. If it's not that, can you email me support@olympianoiseco and I'll collect more info from you. In most other cases, it seems deleting and re-installing fixes it, but of course I'd like to also figure out what the crash is.
yes! you can export individual files (via a zip) or a single file to audio share.
NO problems standalone use, or with AB or AUM on Ipad 3 and IOS 9.2.1
@benkamen this looks a very useful update. Thanks very much for all your hard work.
@benkamen yes a reinstall has fixed the problem..seems fine stand alone and in Aum so far..the problem was occurring when I had no interface attached ..the loading screen is relatively slow ( maybe 15 secs )but not crashing like it was...
@werd Thankyou for your feedback .
Cool thanks
great! But what do you do if Audioshare isn't available in the export options?
Audioshare is a must have app for IOS musicians IMHO.

I went without Audioshare for a long time, then when I got it I wondered how I had ever managed without it
true, but at my place it isn't available for Patterning export. What can I do to fix this?
I only want to export patterns. I'm not interested in exporting samples. Generally I just use the MIDI outputs/triggers.
I can export Patterning patterns to other apps, like FileBrowser, but I try to use one single app (AudioShare) for these tasks. No problem, I just wondered that AudioShare was an option for Patterning export, unknown to me.
That's the question. How do you do it? How do you export a pattern from Patterning to AudioShare?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Sorry, I'm talking about the version that's in development.
