Get well soon Doug "cool beans"
all the best wishes for you Doug, i hope you'll get well soon
Wow, thanks so much everybody, I'm OK most of the time and Jo makes sure I don't overdo anything, I've lived with all this for ages now, but making the videos and tracks and stuff really does make me feel better, its just takes me ages to write anything or make long posts.
I'll post the site thing I wrote in here so you all know what it is. I really didn't want to bother you all with it, I mentioned it on the site because I have to shorten all my posts for a bit. Anyway here it is..
Thanks everyone, they think my eye problem may have been caused by a TIA or ministroke.
Basically I have double vision and warped vision in my right eye, I can’t drive and I have to make all my videos with one eye closed at the moment.
They are taking care of me very well at the hospital.
I also have a few other problems, so I’ll give guys a brief rundown.
And honestly I’m not complaining, I’m just happy I’m still here.
I have a diesese called Auto Immune Pancreatitis, it took six months to diagnose this because it’s quite rare and very painful.
For this I’m on steroids which make me diabetic, for the diabetes I’m on Metformin and Gliclazide.
The main thing is trying to get me off the steroids, so I’m also taking an imuno suppressent drug called Mecaptapurine.
I also have malignant hypertension, if not treated my blood pressure goes mental, last year, you may recall, that put me in hospital, That’s when the AI Pancreatitis kicked off too, so I was in mega pain and they didn’t know what it was.
For the blood pressure control I take Ramapril, Doxisosin and Amlodipin, not sure the spellings are correct, lol.
I’m also on Statins too for the rest of my live long life.
I have blood tests every week.
I’ve had 8 scans, two MRI’s plus a few other less than enjoyable procedures including a EUS which involved them sticking a tube down my throat and snipping bits of my pancreas
Sometimes people make comments about my voice on the YT Channel, that’s quite hurtful, but they don’t know do they.
I don’t smoke, anymore, nor do I drink.
But I’m still happy
All the best, Doug. I enjoy your videos mostly for the apparent ease at which you glide across the keyboard and the touchscreen. Hope to enjoy your talent many more times.
Doug, the knowledge and enthusiasm you share in your videos brings real joy to many people's lives. I wish you health and happiness for the holiday season and the year to come.
Doug..and all the others musicians that have problems, stay well, life is a joke ..
Take care People..
I'm here and in Facebook, everyday read your post, news, videos...etc
And that give me inspiration !!
Big Hugs for Everybody
you've given this community so much, Doug. nothing would be the same without you. you're a warrior, sir.
Doug, thank you for all you do! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
He did it before, he'll do it again.
Best wishes, Doug.
Best wishes, hoping things get better for you.
Dear Sir Doug, any note from the front that includes the words snipping bits of my pancreas gets a man's attention. 100 years ago you'd probably be dead already, I know I certainly would have been, and I know, for all of that, the miracles of modern science (etc etc) are long-winded and often dull (to say nothing of worrisome and often uncomfortable), but if you are half the Liverpudlian I know you are I expect you to keep your sense of humor as best you're able and push on. Oh, and be thankful in tough times (as I know you are) for Jo and the unconditional barking bundle of dear Wilson.
Doug, thanks for sharing. I had an auto immune disease when I was 18/19 that luckily surgery was able to fix, but I still live with after effects. Your attitude is awesome and will pull you through, and know that everyone here is pulling for you.
As for making comments about your voice, one great thing about your virus is it feels like you're sitting down with your friend who is excitedly showing you a new app. Professionally produced promo videos have their place too, but I love what you do and it's resulted in a few unexpected app purchases... And saved some others!
We should all remember to hold those words sometimes when there's negative things to be said (pointing at myself first). With some other posts on here today it reminds me that we know only a tiny sliver about someone's life, on the internet or in real life and there's quite often much more to it than we know.
Get well soon.
My best wishes to you and your health, Doug. I hope you can recover quickly and enjoy a wonderful Christmas time with your loved ones. And remember we do need you around here. What would we do without your great tstr video demos? So all the best and I hope we'll hear again from you soon.
Be well Doug - sending vibes from the Pacific Northwest.
Sorry to hear you're unwell Doug...
Your regular videos are an inspiration to so many people... a really good example of some the best content on the web. Personal, passionate, useful, funny and very, very kind!
Hope you feel better soon... we're all thinking of you.
Totally agree. All the best, Doug.
Hey Doug, all our best wishes for a speedy recovery, we need your reviews to make any decisions on new apps!
Sorry to hear of your health issues Mr. Doug and I wish you only the best things! The mere thought of somebody sticking a tube down my throat and snipping bits off my pancreas makes me cringe.
Take care and I hope you get well soon. You and your work are essential to the iOS music scene.
Doug, cheers, and holiday greetings from the American Midwest. Thanks for all your work on the site and talking with people on the forum - I think you can see that you are most appreciated. I had a much, much, much less significant health issue and hospitalization earlier this year, and it gave me a new perspective on (and respect for) people who are faced with long-term health challenges. (Short version: I'm not as tough as I thought; and most people wouldn't be without the good health we often take for granted).
And your voice is great! Why else would we spend hours upon hours listening to it voluntarily?!
Get better buddy, hope this is just a rough stretch and that 2016 has even better things ahead. Best wishes to you and your family.
Sorry to hear.
Get well, Doug!
Amazing how much this global community relies on and respects your talents, efforts and taste. Good thoughts coming your way from the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Get feelin' better!!
In my prayers Doug.Get well soon.
God bless you and your family.
Thanks for your work on the forum.
Best wishes, Doug!
