  • All I know for sure are Noatikl, Auria, Turnado (can't believe none of you named it, it's impossible to do without!! <3) and the unmissible Cyclop, but there are also new toys to the scene, needing to be checked out..., aah-lots of joyful time ahead...

  • Ah, and I mustn't forget the most basic and mustuses: Audiobus/Audioshare (I bow in admiration..)

  • I hope loopy Masterpiece is not iPad only..... I know i´m a niche inside a niche but i still get more fun creating music on my iPhone 5 (of course an iPhone 6S plus woould be my perfect inbetween device) rather than i had in the year i used an iPad Air. Maybe a tablet is just not my tool ;)
So i hope FL-Studio Mobile 3 and BeatMaker 3 comes soon too..... and i hope full iPhone versions of course too.
Sometimes i even like that i don´t have a million tools on my iPhone and i can focus :)

  • Happy New Year everyone!
It's looking like the apps I'll use most in the coming year are those that already have, or plan to implement Ableton Link and/or AU. These are still the early days for these 2 technologies, but I have been impressed by both so far.
Fugue Machine, Patterning and Elastic Drums were already favourites of mine, and with Link implemented, they are easier to use than ever.
I recently also picked up midiSTEPs, and the AU hosting of iSEM works really well.
I hope both Link and AU bloom in 2016. If apps like Auria Pro and Drumperfect Pro get on board, I can imagine myself being much more efficient on my iPad.

  • @animal The reason people didn't mention Audiobus, Audioshare and Turnado is that this is a discussion about apps that came out first in 2015 that we will be using most in 2016. Therefore Aura Pro but not Auria. And Gadget is counts because the addition of Ableton Link essentially changes the whole game.

Watching Jakob's video on the top ten apps of 2015 on soundtestroom http://bit.ly/1YWjSoK I discovered a new fave, Yamaha Synth Book. And it's free!

The Yamaha apps are the strange unmentioned uncles down there in the basement, full of talent, but, you know, wearing those odd nylon trousers and with a tendency to make the prettier horses cry...

  • @Reid: I was kind of joking, but do apologise, I didn't realise this discussion is only about new Apps from 2015. I'll go back into my corner now... o:), cheers, t

  • Auria Pro , for sure!:)
    Shazam
    MyAudioStream
    Spotify and AudioShare!

  • I have been buying and trying apps and am ready to settle on a setup and use it rather than just noodling to see what is possible.

    I will be using

Modstep as main sequencer while composing and performing tracks
Patterning (MIDI Only) to record sequences into ModStep, mainly to get 'humanised' Hi Hats and tambourines at the moment but will experiment more with other sounds for sure, tempo synced to ModStep using link
Beatstep (not an app i know but hey, it is an important part of my setup) for recording into ModStep, tempo synced to modstep using Midi clock

Effects - New to me in 2015, PeakQ, SilQ, Tonestack 2.0 (I'm lovin the new bass amps)

Synths - I not 100% but I think the only new one I have is iM1, I also bought iVCS3 a couple of months back and haven't used it yet but definitely plan to,
others from before 2015 are iSem, iPolySix, iMS-20, Galileo Organ, Drums Live, Phase 84

For my DAW which will be used for recording live audio (electric and bass guitars) and final mixing Cubasis,

and then Audio Mastering (Can you guess what I will use this for)

Ones that I bought in 2015 but I'm not sure about yet as I haven't really given them much time - Turnado, StereoDesigner (like it but it crashes often for me), Emo Chorus, DubFilter, AltiSpace

One that I will use if I can get the MIDI triggering to work properly is Attack

What I still need but haven't found yet, or maybe i have but just don't know it yet - a good compressor for use on individual tracks, i'm currently using the Cubasis one.
