  • I'm 55. Played many gigs while studying. Worked. Played. Worked
Played and so on. Now a house, kid. Still playin gigs with a Funky band. Nights are exhausting. I'm not 25 anymore. I'll better torture the ipad and help my wife in garden. But its a pleasure with play real people and not to stay with your tv on saturdays!

  • 31 , trying to enjoy my youth while it lasts.

I'm 32. I'm probably closer to a 55-year old though in pace, which explains why I like this forum. I definitely know my musical prime closed a couple years ago, and I no longer do writing, studio work, or gigging for money (and definitely not for free). Can't stand the so-called 'scene' and never really could. Was excellent in my day, if I do say so, just never had any ins due to working on music instead of networking.

  • And Happy belated to @samu and I'm preemptively sorry @Ivan_Dj. :)

I'm 35, and I love that this forum skews older and includes people who have both lived through (and possibly even worked through) different eras of electronic music. There's a similar phenomenon on guitar forums - they skew older because interest in guitar is starting to age up and you're more likely to find someone who is 55 and played a ton in the 80's or 90's versus a 16-year-old just starting out.

Logic would tell you "mobile device" + "electronic music" + "internet message board" would generate an average age of, like, 13...but the internet is a lot more age-diverse now than it was in, say, 2002.

The marketing or 'community builders' I work with say that forums in general skew older. Young people see forums as slow and boring.

Comes shipped in a box marked 'not pube dye'

    ...too obscure?

  • I'm almost 287 months old

  • Gave the wrong age on p1 of the thread. I'm pretty sure that's unambiguous evidence of cognitive decline related to advanced age. :)

    Double nickels here.

    Happy birthday @soundklinik and @Samu

  • Thank you all for the Bday wishes. :)

I can tick off 10cc but they were at the Byron Bay Bluesfest some 5 or so years ago.

I can also vaguely remember seeing Suzi Quatro on the Isle Of Sheppey (Kent, UK) many years ago. But not THAT many, 90s maybe ... so hazy ;)

The only one I don't recognise is Lieutenant Pigeon, the others have all been at some point regularly on my playlist. :)

  • Just turned 32.. also thought I was one of the older ones on this forum. Inspiring to see so many people of all ages so pastionate about making music. Gives me solace that I will too as the years go by.
I will refrain from using so many emotes in future though

Cheers dude :) ..... Sounds like the sort of thing I would get into......I recognise the drums in there, could it have been used for Fat Les' Vindaloo ?

  • Try this: play this track blind, no video, and if you remember the original, you're my age, if you remember the 'original' but think it was from the 90s in Madchester, you're still a youngster (but watch behind, those millennials are catching up (but in a year or two, those beardy 'millennials' will have to watch out, there's people entering the workforce soonish that never existed in the 20th century and they'll soon use the term 'millennial' to denote 'old person' - that'll make us all laugh, yes, bring it on).

My first ever concert had Suzi Quatro's older brother Mike Quatro and his Jam Band on the roster...

  • At least we have all got one thing in common- that is we are all two months older than the start of this thread...... it just seems like yesterday....
