    Happy b'day

  • Thanks mate :)

  • Happy birthday @Ivan_Dj , I turned 40 myself last year...not as traumatic as I thought it'd be, but I wasn't doing backflips either...

Kept see this thread and would get distracted before go into it, probably a subconscious effort to avoid having to think about getting older.

The poll response shows that the majority of us skew late Boomer/GenX and it's been studied how many in that group don't have the same outlook on age as their parents did. But I actually did. My Dad was born in early 1950, 17 when Sgt.Pepper came out, and was forever young in his mind. That translated down to me as well, and I can state with honesty that I don't feel 40, dont act 40 and certainly don't identify as I saw "old" people when I was a kid.

I don't view individuals on their cultural, ancestral or physical status, nor their age. You can be 13 and be an asshole or be 78 and be an asshole.

Try this: play this track blind, no video, and if you remember the original, you're my age, if you remember the 'original' but think it was from the 90s in Madchester, you're still a youngster (but watch behind, those millennials are catching up (but in a year or two, those beardy 'millennials' will have to watch out, there's people entering the workforce soonish that never existed in the 20th century and they'll soon use the term 'millennial' to denote 'old person' - that'll make us all laugh, yes, bring it on).

haha - early forties but never heard this and yes, def part of my Madchester memory. Nice one.

  • 46 going on 47 next month. looks like it's the old geezers using the latest tech.

  • Funny, last time I answered this I was 46. Now I'm 47. 48 next month. How time flys while having fun :)

Most of us who are a few years past 30 spend more time worrying about the blunders that were still to come back then :) Keep an eye out....

Yo squares! 31 here, looking and feeling like 23. No wife in horrizont, just poor old siri, no own flat. But I dont have regrets. Experience opens our head, right? I'm shocked, you're mostly soo old, but on the other hand. If you're young, in 80%, you follow the rules. So make hip hop with mpc, music with pc, rock band like a good old times, synth only voltage control. You have your role models, and you follow them. Touch music making is too young yet, and don't have a role models. You have to experience, and open up to enjoy a new way freely#reunion with me for a god sake. Maybe . So ..Gentlemans..glad you're here and you took your time.

I'll be ready. I'm smarter now...I hope lol

  • This forum should have love or hate meter, so narcis like me could feel a comfort for a second...

  • @u0421793 said (regarding hearing loss):

Mine's good again, no problems (other than insensitivity, but not having to listen to people has an upside).

Glad I didn't have a drink in my mouth when I read that

I'm mildly hard of hearing from years in garages and basements caught between my 4x12 cab and the PA speaker that was invariably too close for comfort. A couple of Motorhead shows standing directly in front of the speaker column probably didn't help none. My continued "huhs" and "whats" have driven two wives to the brink of unspeakable acts of violence – although I do make an effort to be more polite with wife number two: "I'm so sorry, I didn't quite catch all of that ...?" A little manners go a long way :)

And a very happy belated birthday to you, Mr. @soundklinik!

For everyone else celebrating the next two evenings, remember, green beer and police checkpoints do NOT go well together, regardless of age ...

Some wisdom here. This is true...falling into ios music is easier coming from experience in other formats. You need confidence to feel good about making real music on phones and "game machines".

    By the way 42 here.

  • About 4,000 ... Gin? What was I thinking? :D

Uhm... not to be a spoilsport but posting your age online is not really a good idea. It's one more data point that can be used against you via social engineering.

Fair point, I'll tell my schoolmates too.

There goes my "who has the most interesting Paypal password" thread idea.

  • I already give money to the nice man on the telephone who's rescuing orphan dogs he says are in Korea he says for the Policeman's League and other virgins. Think it'll be OK.

  • Yeah i'm set, just got word that my 20th cousin twice removed from nigeria just passed away. Next round is on me!!!!

I would not be able to assess how old everyone is, given that a singular age for a varied group of people is a mathematical improbability!

Suffice it to say that I sorely miss the days of "English As She Is Spoke".
