  • Anyone have a street price on this?

Seems like it could be compelling, but all dependent on price point relative to the Audio4+, eh? Assuming they get all that clock stuff that Apple messed up for them worked out...

  • Est. Street of $199

  • According to the specs you can't connect 2 iOS devices to this one. Only 1 iOS + PC/Mac or 2 x PC/Mac.

  • Thanks, @Munibeast. So, you save $100 if you can deal with two inputs on the front--looks to me like the back is the same as the Audio4+.

Yes but there's another drawback: iOS charging adapter is not included. So if you want that it'll cost extra. Also the footprint isn't any smaller than the 4+. So I think overall the 4+ is a better deal than this.

  • Looks good, unless I'm mistaken you can't use two iOS devices at the same time with this one, just two computer or one iOS and one computer.

My thoughts exactly. Half of the specs but not half of the price. Hmm

    Meh, then not interested.

  • Me, I'm looking at my unusable ICM4+ waiting for some type of update of either iOS or OSX. Not my best used money though it was great before I updated os's.

  • It is still hoped for @hellquist

Indeed. Just trying to think of routes that lead to Apple actually fixing it, in one end or the other (which to my understanding would be enough). Is there nothing else that has broken due to this?

Also, why is it ACTUALLY a problem for my ICM4+? Could it be fixed there in ANY way, by iConnectivity. Just curious on if they truly are based on a business idea that assumes neither end is updated, and if they have their own work-around, and what that is, even if it'd be "swap out the thingy there and re-solder another thing there" or if it could be sorted by simply disabling midi-master-ship on one of the two ends within the device.

  • Somebody should ask them about it @NAMM. I'm in the same boat waiting for a fix.

  • I'm just glad I left one of my iPads in iOS8. My ICA4+ still working smoothly. Can't be a fun NAMM show for them, as I'd assume the ICA2+ is plagued by the same potential incompatibility issue.

I thought I heard this was to be fixed when IOS9.3 comes out? Anyone know for sure?

  • I'm not sure of that rear headphone jack, why'd they put it there? Also can see some potential snafus with the capacitive screen, how is it on the 4+? And is it the same power connector as the midi interfaces?

  • In order @musikmachine . I don't find the rear hp jack to be a problem on the 4+

The capacitive screen is responsive and I've had no issues with it on the 4+

Don't know about the power - need to check the specs.

  • I like the headphone jack in the back on my ICA4 since I use it for 2 extra outputs live. I have another ICA4 in my studio, and I just keep a short extension on it for phones.

  • Headphone jack on the rear isn't a great idea but it's okay if you put an extension cable in permanently. Not an ideal design IMHO.

  • There's a lot going on the ICA4, so I'm sure space was a consideration. But you buy into one of these for everything it does that no other interface can.

Thanks. I was thinking of accidentally tapping the 48v button in the middle of recording or a performance.

So is the jack matched with the other outputs? That makes sense then if it's line level, headphone outs are usually on seperate amps and not very good anyway.

Not matched - they are headphone level outs, though can be padded to a reasonable output level. The internal router/mixer allows you to define it as a headphone mix of all inputs (front panel and PC/IOS) or as a completely separate output mix. Great if you want 2 sets of stereo tracks and also need to send a click track to a drummer, etc.

Wait, what is the problem with the ICM4+ and OS versions? I can ask them about it...

Thanks @sonosaurus, that would be great! The problem is that it's not possible to run 2 iOS devices on 9.2 or a Mac on 10.11 + iOS 9.2 without getting snap, crackle and pop...

contact iconnectivity got the answer yesterday:
"The current beta versions of iOS and El Capitan fixes issues. Not sure when official release will be though.
    iConnectivity"

    will see, sit & wait

  • That's very good news @obiwahnkentobi . I am optimistically hopeful the updates coming in those betas will also fix a number of other audio problems in iOS 9 as well.

  • The issues with iOS 9.2 and audio interfaces / problems appears to be more widespread than the iConnectivity devices - Michael started a post which has more information about it, also links to the Auria forums where Rim explains a little further - look for the thread "Audio interface latency problems?"

  • @Durwin99 Not sure it's exactly the same problem as the iConnectivity issue started with release of iOS 9, and this Focusrite issue seemed to only appear with 9.2.

Regardless, it sounds like Apple has gotten sloppy with their QC.
