  • Ableton Live (still on 8)

  • No desktop, iPad only at this time.

If I was to choose I would probably go for Logic and Ableton.

Ableton Live 9 (after using Logic for nearly 23 years). I find Logic still really really great but it was time for something new. Discovering a new DAW is exciting like a new girl friend :)

  • I love Reason and Ableton.

  • I have Cubase but seldom if ever use it, I just feel more comfortable using the iPad, even with its limitations.

I can't vote if there's only one choice.

I use and love Ableton. It's immediate & has a fluid workflow, also Gadget can write a direct to Ableton session view project, this is very useful.

I also use and love Logic, I can't get enough of Alchemy, and the effects. I'm still surprised they haven't given the E series synths a facelift yet, they're really, really ugly. Which is a shame because they don't sound bad at all.

When the Mac version of FL Studio gets a bit more stable I may well start using it again. It has the best piano roll editor.

I also have Reason. Though I always loved the virtual cabling and the hours of fun to be had making mad sonic edifices, I never really grokked the rest of the interface. Maybe I should try version 8, they say it got a bunch of workflow improvements.

  • Reaper!
The only daw that doesnt look like a trip to Disney World.

  • Waiting for someone to post "Sunvox". It's only a matter of time...

  • SunVox

I have the full Ableton Live 9 but find I rarely use so am pondering whether to just sell it on. If that is possible?

  • Logic was the choice because there in nothing in this price league (iOS included) where you get such a big package.
Sculpture is still in a league of it´s own and Space and Delay Designer are also fantastic (even when the UI looks ugly). Then there is Alchemy 2 and and and..... already too much tools ;)
The Midi FX are great too.
I was trying Abelton and Bitwig as well. Abelton is really not my cup of tea. Bitwig seems to be great and i got a free copy of an 8-track limited Bitwig DAW (but otherwise with all bells and whistles the full version has to offer).
I don´t want to learn a new DAW really but i consider it as a second DAW.

  • mainly Cubase but trying to get into Ableton too

  • Audacity comes to mind, a free dino, with many interesting tools to learn.

  • I use Cubase and am toying with trying Ableton which seems the DAW of choice for the type of music I do. Thing is I'm not sure I want to get involved with the learning curve of a new DAW.

Familiararity isn't to be sniffed at .... I use Adobe premier for video editing and don't consider my self particularly great with it ... It was only when I came to try out a new editing program that I realised just how proficient I am with premier ....
In the words of that great philosopher, Homer Simpson ...
Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain :p

Renoise, LogicPro X, SunVox, Ableton Live Lite and a few other oddities in no particular order.

Hoping we'll see Logic for iPad soon...

  • iPad only at the moment, if i were to go back to PC then FL Studio, those lifetime free updates coupled with the amazing amount of functionality and improvements constantly being added make it hard to justify spending on anything else

  • I have reason 7 and flstudio producer bundle. I sold ableton 9 and just kept the intro version as I only ever host 1 or two plugins. Link makes it a lot more appealing. Geist is the best of them all though it's not a daw. Coming from an Mpc background it's my favourite though

Ableton Live and Ignite, and OS Garageband.

  • Logic Pro X

  • Just other day, I was wondering what DAW people use with their iOS stuff.
Garageband/Logic, Reason, Cubase and Ableton would be logical options, since we have iOS apps that send project files to them :)

When I rarely use a desktop DAW, I use Reaper

    Studio One Pro 3
    Pro Tools
    Logic Pro X
    Cubase
    Live
    Reaper
    Tracktion

more or less in that order, but definitely with S1 Pro 3 1st and PT 2nd. The others come and go in order depending on use. Logic Pro has taken a hike up the charts for me since the inclusion of Alchemy.

  • Other: GarageBand.

How does one go about selling ableton? Is it a case of sending someone the serial numbers?

It's like with all licences i think! A licence can transfered to another person but you have to contact the support for this. Some companies allow tranfers without any problems, others charge a fee for it and a few doesn't allow it at all.
    I currently sell a lot plug-ins ;)
But you can't just send someone a serial number!
Edit: And mostly a tranfered licence becomes NFR (not for resell) then!
