Reaper
Doesn't everyone use those pesky iOS devices here?
I think many here uses a combination of booth worlds.
Voted Other for Reaper
Digital Performer.
Propellerhead Reason 8
Bitwig, MTS ProPlus (though it's not called that anymore I don't think), Renoise. (Surface Pro 3, Intel i7, 8GB, 256GB)
Ableton Live 9.6 Beta with Link! Integration with Gadget is very useful. Just wish dev's adoption of Link was quicker.
Reason 8 and Cubase Elements
Logic Pro X!
Other: Samplitude. I started with it in the early 90s because it was the most Pro Tools like Daw that did not require expensive hardware at the time. I just grew with it and It keeps getting new features that keep me ln it. I also use Reaper and have tried Cubase and ProTools but Samplitude is best for me.
Another Logic Pro X user here, because I've been using Logic for a long time, although Reaper is also very impressive and gets some use.
Digital Performer 7, Ableton Live 8, Mainstage 3, and GarageBand on the desktop. Mostly using Cubasis on the iPad for the last few years; but recently acquired Auria Pro.
Yes it is.I've done it twice! lol
I put up an ad on Kijiji ,Craigslist and on the Ableton forum
You just have to message them when you find a buyer and you deactivate the license from your account and goes to the new buyer. Tricky doing a money transfer online, just have to trust the person or hope its someone that lives around you
I started out with Cubase VST 3.6 and currently have Reason 7. I skipped Reason 8, as I feel it wasn't worth it. Hopefully Reason 8.5 or 9 will be more enticing.
Audacity was the only audio software I had on desktop for the longest time, well that and a MIDI sequencer. I just saw that Audacity got an update recently, I need to check that out.
But I made the plunge and got Cubase Elements 8, which was on sale last summer for about the same as the full price of iOS Cubasis. I haven't gotten into much because it's on Windows, but since I mostly use Cubasis on iOS it seemed like a natural fit. Even though it is not the full blown Cubase, it's much more than a mere "lite" version as it has tons of features and...well, since I'm coming from iOS, I don't see a lot of limitations.
Reaper.
Long time Digital Performer user, but trying to use Live more to mix up my process. Any DeckII users out there? Gad, I'm getting old.
Reaper, Logic, and Mainstage (although I don't think that qualifies as a DAW.)
I've been a Reason user for several years now and this is not likely to change, but I can only agree with you. Propellerhead never fails to charge handsome amounts for new version updates and Reason 8 was pretty underwhelming as long as functional and feature enhancement are concerned. Ifind it more like a facelift with a few 'convenience' tweaks like instrument drag'n'drop.
FL Studio - have used it for years, so I know my way around it reasonably well.
^^^Geist is great but too small for all it does so don't use it as much, the 2 beta is scalable though and fullscreen.
Ableton Live here with Maschine and Komplete 10.
I agree with you entirely. Reason 8 was a total letdown. Even all the point updates still left me underwhelmed. They also need to spend more time developing the RE SDK, so that they don't lose any more developers. U-he's been long gone over a year now and we haven't seen anything from Korg in years. Propellerhead have spent too much time and resources on insignificant things like Discover, Figure, and Take, all in hopes of bringing in new Reason customers. But I feel like that plan probably backfired since those apps are geared mostly toward people who don't have any serious intentions of making music. So all Propellerhead have accomplished was catering to the instant gratification crowd who most likely won't want to invest $400 in Reason and the learning curve that goes along with it. Maybe a very small percentage of Figure and Take users have actually bought Reason, I would imagine.
