Takete is half price

  • Would not give them 4 dollars for the app given their ridiculous pricing at launch. Talk about overpriced. Had they started with a price even close to reasonable maybe I would feel differently but now I have zero interest in supporting it for any reason or price.

why is this so expensive? I really don't know. I haven't been able to try it to be fair, but....
I got gadget half price at $20. Now at regular price Gadget is $39 cad.

How is the value calculated here?

  • I didn't try it either, but Takete seems to do a whole lot more than Gadget...

Oh does it? ok, did not know this. I'll look further into it. I think I tried the free demo version a while back.

  • You can't do video with gadget

  • Different Drummer was priced well over $100 for awhile. If this Takete dev has a good product that people aren't buying, he will come around eventually

  • He might but he has not yet . That ship sailed for me with the ridiculous price and could be a part of the reason I have no interest in DD either.

  • It definitely looks more enticing when an app's price comes down £400 to £40 than £12 to £6 but that doesn't mean it is worth the price. It does feel like a clever tactic but it hasn't worked on me.

I nearly pulled the trigger on Oriental Strings when it was £42. Glad I kept my powder dry there.....

  • I tried the free app and it's fun, but also couldn't quite understand why the full version was $80. Now $40 seems still much too much, but maybe there are features that are worth the price? I don't know.

  • I don't really care what an app used to cost. When it gets to a price where I think it will provide value then I will get it. As long as it amuses me as long as a cinema ticket would then £5 is ok and so on and so forth.

  • They should give a code to Doug and have him do a demo

that would probably be a good way to advertise it, imo.

i know $80 is alot for the app store but i believe the dev said that's what he believes his app is worth, so he's selling it for that. we here on ios are used to incredibly low prices, when someone defies that everyone gets freaked out.

  • The price of most things are really personal, how much that is well, you only really know when you've used it or not. Of course other people's opinions can help evaluate it's worth, but unlike most other OS software, if you decide you don't like it, you can't sell it, then again you could try the Apple returns policy.

Me either but I think the famous P.T. Barnum quote may well have something to do with it.

  • Well, it does more then Gadget and costs the same for the moment: either it is a reasonable price, albeit temporary, or Gadget's overpriced. Tertium no datur. If I was into audiovisual, I'd surely give the free version a try.

  • To the Egress ---------------->>

  • Gadget is time proven with excellent results and highly numerous heaps of praise. Takete eh well, you know.

    Yup.

  • Are 'they' in this room?

  • Well I bought it.

Pretty damned clever really if a little temperamental still.

Toys to play with in it

Each pad in audio section can have one of

Audio loop - if you know it's tempo you can do time stretching. Load them via iTunes. Copy paste or open in.

    Drum machine

Granular synth which can be controlled by on screen keyboard or per pad step sequencer

In addition each pad can run a macro to for example trigger a video clip

In the video section you can load (from your camera roll or iTunes) video clips into each pad control

I believe that quite a few of us bloggers/video creators reached out them at launch for promo codes, and received no response. That's always a telling sign in my book.

Sean, I would rather that you did not spread misinformation about my business. I have sent out many promo codes to bloggers and reviewers. Most thus far have not created any videos or reviewed them, that is a different matter.

too bad. It would really help if there were some reviews and examples.

Send one to Haq, he would at least take the time to check it out I'm sure

Considering that I never received a code for iOS MARS, and there are no reviews on either the Sound Test Room, Palm Sounds, or Music App Blog, I will stand by my statement.

I wish you the best with your app. It looks like a bold venture, and could really be a big breakout app in the iOS world. Cheers.

I haven't received a request from you - if you want to review it just email me. Sound Test Room have a copy but Doug said he needed more time with it due to the depth and complexity of Takete. I would like to know who is telling you that I don't send promo codes as that simply isn't true, I am quite generous with them and even send it to stores who want to install it on display devices.

On a related note, this video was just posted -

    That's a nice demo.

I'd like to move on. My apologies if my tone was harsh (it was). I sent you a request at launch, and I don't know what happened. As we've since shut down the site, there is no longer a need to discuss any promo codes on my behalf.

However, as mentioned earlier, I would suggest sending a code to Jakob Haq at the Sound Test Room (if you haven't already), and Ashley Elsdon at Palm Sounds and John Walden at MusicAppBlog are two of the biggest iOS music advocates in the scene. Again, if you haven't sent them codes, it would be my suggestion to do so, as they both have a massive following.

Again, sorry for the negativity. All the best,

    Sean Garland
