It smells like Gadget update approaching...
Comments
Updated, and I get a "null:null" option in the new store.
Sounds like there are some issues with the IAP's working their way thru the App Store on the new KORG updates. Module IAP isn't working either. It will likely resolve itself shortly.
I was able to purchase both the iDS-10 and Module IAP's just now.
Interested to know what you make of TRITON etc.
It's now working and the expansion pack can be purchased (4.99)
And I was able to purchase Module's Triton sound library.
I hope it gets Link in 2.1.
I wanna cheat and purchase Dat Bingo...
Great update, but where is Link?
Still no MIDI.
Recently KORG has added Ableton Link to Gadget, iKaossilator and iElectribe, made Gadget universal (for free), brought Triton to Module, made iDS-10 universal (for free), and doubled the number of synths and voices in iDS-10...and you're "underwhelmed".
Maybe give KORG a little break here?
You make it sound like all that's a big deal or something
Isn't ids-10 made by someone other than Korg?
Wow, iDS-10, Gadget & Cubasis updates all dropping at once. I'm going to have to clear a space in my schedule!
Wow, you're really hard to please. But, I'm sure Korg will bring Link to all their apps soon enough. In a the meantime, I've got more than enough updates this morning to keep me busy for the next few months! :-D
How much is the IAP?
EDIT: Okay, I see someone answered. 4.99. But which currency is that? 3.99 in UKP
In the case of an iPhone app going universal, what does that imply ?
As far as I know, iDS-10 has been compatible with iPad from day one?
Surely, I must have missed something. Is it just adapting to screen resolution ?
Please forgive me, if this is a trivial noob question.
Previously it was only an iPhone app which run fine on iPads. It zooms into a fullscreen, stretched version of the iPhone resolution. The new update adds native iPad resolution support so it runs like any other native iPad app.
I have iphone 5 so was not able to run it, just bought it for my air1...
How do they call it ipad app? Huge buttons.. To me it does look like ipone app on ipad screen... Or am i wrong?
Kinda like its big buttons, easier to mess with while jamming than iMS20
Yes, it was made by the Detune team, which also made DS-10 and DS-10 Plus for Nintendo DS. Those apps didn't have anywhere the connectivity that IOS apps have so I guess they carried it over to iPhone.
Pretty much with General Garland on this one.
I'm still finding new voices in gadgets I've hardly touched up til now.
If I have ims20 already (and gadget), any idea if I need this too? I don't know myself. I like to have fun...,but I don't like redundancy on my idevices.
A question on my mind as well. It survived for about 50 seconds.
AAS is a powerful beast indeed.
Another answer after more thought:
iDS-10 has a better sequencer than iMS-20, which is difficult for me to use without zoom, which is implemented on the synth panels. Synth engine is less complicated.
I did buy iDS-10 before the news of Gadget going universal came out. I'll probably end up using Gadget on iPhone a lot more than iDS-10. I'm finding I'm more of an musical ideas person than a deep synthesis person.
It is a little unfortunate that iDS-10 got this update on the same day that Gadget received the universal update. Gadget is a fully modern, visually stunning, premium app that was imagined and designed for iOS from the ground up. It has capabilities and note editing/sequencing that are somehow more accessible AND more powerful than iDS-10.
That being said, iDS-10 is a nice product, and I've never really "regretted" buying any Korg app, even the ones where they double-dipped for an iPhone version (iElectribe for iPhone) or some of their older synths that are arguably superseded by newer products (like iPolySix). Someone here remarked that iDS-10 was sort of already like a stripped-down phone version of Gadget, and it does have some cool features.
But you have to understand that's basically a re-port of an older Nintendo DS app, and going directly from Gadget to iDS-10 could seem a bit underwhelming. Definitely keeping it on my phone and looking into the IAP, but it has some quirky limitations to it that require some time to get used to.
One thing iDS-10 may have over Gadget is the smaller footprint - could be a factor if space is limited on your device.
Gadget comes with a lot of gadgets that rely on sample libraries - those audio files have to take space somewhere.
iDS-10 as a pure synth doesn't rely on samples.
That reminds me. I should delete some space hogging games from my iPhone that I don't play anyway.
I don't really use my iphone for music apps, just my ipad. Thanks for the answers, they comforted me and my decision to leave my finger off the buy button for this. wasn't reeeeally itching to buy it anyway.
Other apps will excite me more.
Plenty to do in gadget right now. Loving the full screen on my mini.
I started out iPad-only in my IOS music making, because my iPhone was a 3GS.
Started incorporating the iPhone more after I became eligible for an upgrade w/ my service provider. I don't always have my iPad on me, whereas I always have the iPhone wherever I go. I still prefer the iPad for a lot of things though.
