I used to have the hootoo too. I now replaced it with a similar device by RAVpower. It has an integrated battery and SD card slot as well as the USB port. It cost 30€, I think. Got myself a 128GB SD card and 128GB tiny USB3 stick which can be connected simultaneously as well. And of course you can also connect a 2TB 2.5" HD. Highly recommended!
What model?
RP-WD03. It's €39,99.

Thanks, good to know.
UPDATE: Just wanted to share that evidently they've discontinued the Airstash2 that I was recommending. That's really unfortunate because their new Sandisk wireless (Airstash3) you're stuck with whatever memory it comes with. It's no longer on a swappable SD card. Guess they figured they could make more money selling you multiple sticks instead of letting users use their own SD cards.
I'm not even sure if they're still supporting it. They only discontinued it in January, so maybe they'll at least maintain the existing user base, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Does anyone know of a similar device? ie. a portable, battery-powered one that allows you to transfer full resolution photos (including RAW), video, video, and pretty much any kind of document, back and forth wirelessly between the iPad/iPhone and swappable SD cards?
I use GoodReader to move files to and from a thumb drive on my router.
I like to travel a bit and the Airstash02 has been handy. Still works fine, but it looks like they have quickly abandoned the product from what I can tell. Eventually, I'll need a replacement.
It's nice to have one device that's about as big as a lighter, provides it's own battery power, allows you to transfer wirelessly by creating it's own wifi network to/from your iDevice, will stream audio and/or video to your device, and allows you to use your own SD cards as storage. It also has a USB plug for charging it, or transferring files manually as a USB card read/write.
Evidently the claim the market was too small to sustain the product... but think that's BS. They simply want you to buy multiples of their new SanDisk - Connect in the storage size of your choice instead of allowing you to use your own media. Kinda like what Apple has done with iPhone/iPads by forcing you to pay a premium for more builtin storage space. Kinda blows.
Yes:
Cool. Thanks! That's even better since it's also a spare battery to charge the iPhone/iPad. Doesn't have the USB male plug, but it's got a USB port to copy files manually to a thumb drive. Not pricey either.
Oh wow! It looks like you can ALSO connect a small travel HDD to it's miniUSB port and access that wirelessly as well?! Just added to my Amazon wish list
I use one of these:

Relatively expensive but hugely flexible.
I sometimes hook up a 2tb mobile HDD to it, no problem :-)
