  • I was a massive fan on BM2 but BM3 going to have to be something pretty special to win me back from Auria Pro.

Not owning either of those but being interested in BM3 as my next bigger purchase I'll be curious to know what you think of it.

If you are on a budget BM2 is definitely best value DAW on iOS in terms of depth of features. Some people struggle with the interface but part of it is the breadth and depth of functions in BM2

  • I wish BM3 would be released before I drop coin on AuriaPro.

In my opinion they are two completely different types of apps. Sure they share some DAW features but Beatmaker 3 will more likely be more focused on creating managing sounds and samples while Auria Pro is more focused on recording and mixing. They will for sure complement each other.

Update: Input monitoring works in iMPC Pro using the Behringer UCA-222. The 222 has a monitor on/off switch and it works perfectly with iMPC Pro. I ran an 1/8in-to-RCA stereo cable from my iphone to the UCA-222, plugged in heaphones into the "Phones" jack, played a song from the iphone and viola', monitoring and recording worked fine!

The input monitor switch on the UCA is not the same as real input monitoring. The UCA switch directly routes the input to the the output meaning it does not pass thru the iPad thus does not accurately reflect what is recorded and in order to stop monitoring after sampling the switch has to be switched to avoid having the input allways play thru.

Even if the UCA has the switch it's not working when using iRig Mic HD or other usb audio interfaces that do not have hardware monitor-switch. So it's just a poor 'workaround' for a missing feature in iMPC 'Pro'.

I'll just forget that MPC 'Pro' even exist and delete all the Retronym crap from my iPad...

According to the UCA222 User Manual:
"OFF/ON MONITOR -With the MONITOR switch OFF, the headphone output receives the signal from the computer over the USB port (same as the RCA output jacks). With the MONITOR switch ON the headphones receive the signal connected to the RCA INPUT jacks."

    Isn't this the goal?

The 'goal' is to hear what the ipad recives after the a/d conversion not before, the monitor switch on the uca routes the analog signal directly back to the outputs without any ad/da conversion. Still even if the uca has a monitor switch it doesnt help at all if one is using an 'input only' device such as th iRig Mic HD.

Thankfully there are other apps available that work properly so i can stay away those that do not work as expected.

That's the irony of this portion of the thread on what's coming in BM3: BM2 (as @Samu points out above) has been one of those apps that already does type this of monitoring, for quite a while

BM2 quietly continues to kick ass, unparalleled on iPhone, even with the advent of universal Gadg

  • It's a real shame bm2 is having a few niggles on iPhone 6s. Just had a weeks holiday and was hoping to play, don't get much chance normally so hoping an update appears very soon. Unfortunately my iPad has been taken over by my wife! Lol

  • I don't understand why intua is not updating bm2 . A simple IAA FX addon (even as an IAP) ,link , audioshare and maybe transient detecting for chopping and they are back in the game...

    Thank you, simple and plain

  • Somehow I feel BeatMaker 3 will be a total remake.
Streamline to UI(Hybrid between Gadget & Cubasis?) SoundFont support and file-management similar to AudioShare and BOOM!

Those who are testing it are most likely under NDA and can't even squeak as to how close to release it is.
    Are we talking >6 months?

And don't forget Intua says there will be an OSX version too! So sharing projects across devices should be easy!

  • So if you buy BM2 now will 3 be an update or a whole new app as they did with 1 to 2?

I'm sure it will be a whole new app! Not sure exactly.
And i think it is O.K.

Yeah - I really don't have a problem with it. Just curious
