Yup that works, thanks @JohnnyGoodyear. I just thought I could jam along without opening up AB, but easy enough..
Congratulations on finally releasing it. Don't have any spare cash left but I'll be picking it up later. Because, you know...
Working in that
Very quick first impressions:
----The 2 Tori all was prob. one of the best I've been through. Quick and helpful. +1
---Pressing the Keys, was very responsive, and the drum percussion sounds flowed nicely while jamming on the Keys. +1
---The quality of the sounds/tones/drums to my ears sound quite amazing. Great job Derek! I mean, they sound really good. +1
---Picking a kit, style, groove and what ever it is to the right of that, the part you drag up to the timeline, well that is easy as pie. Previewing is easy. adjusting tempo is easy. several different pieces drug up to the timeline all flowed together nicely, very smooth. adjusting the length of a part, or repeating it is easy too. +1
----I think this needs a portion you can drag to the timeline that are fills, between drum parts. They flow together great, but.........I need some fills between verses/chorus/bridge/ and so on, unless I'm missing something.
That's all I got so far. Cuz, that's all I know how to do with it thus far. I like it, dig it, excellent work man!
Should work fine in Audiobus or IAA. Maybe we need to implement a background audio toggle
Bought it.
I must say it's a very good sounding drum app, with thoughfully created patterns - a lot of
them, really - and easier than EZDrummer to assemble the said patterns into a song. It allows pattern editing, one thing I'm not sure is possible with EZDrummer without a DAW. The pads and key don't appear to be velocity sensitive, but I'm sure it will be addressed eventually.
For me it has a huge con, though: it doesn't have true export of MIDI/Audio files, instead it has the ability of recording either type into a DAW by IAA. Kind of disappointing, I must confess. I wonder if it's that difficult from a developer's point of view to enable saving a file in iOS. I was expecting something like saving, say a song created in Drum Session as a MIDI file, say "song.mid" (could be audio, it's the same problem), and then opening the file in my DAW of choice by using iOS's "open in" feature.
Having to record the song in real time into the DAW, or connecting to iTunes to access the MIDI or audio file, I must say frankly, is deal breaker for me. I'll keep the app anyway, hoping for a development path that make it useable for me. I hope so, because the sounds are great and the workflow in the app itself is the best I've seen on iOS.
Fills: scroll down the grooves...fills are listed at the bottom of the list. Drag a fill to the second half of a loop and it will automatically splice it in... adjust tempo where fill starts to match your existing tempo. You can have multiple tempos in one timeline. Insert them at the cursor
This will be addressed in the next update! Thank you!
I'm still having problem with the start/stop button not working periodically. The only fix is to close the app and restart.
It works great in both Derek. Awesome job! No worries on the background it's a beauty just the way it is..
Pardon the dumb question, but is it the Drum Session, by Ngo Minh Ngoc, or did my search come up short?
Yes that is it. Derek worked with him to develop or code this. Blue Mangoo....... dodeedooo
Listing this to check...thanks!!
It is 1:20 a.m. And I am in my bathroom with headphones on and all is well, great!
I'm the same way....I'd rather build my track and have it export directly into my app of choice...we will be adding a "open in" button
Ok, thanks for the info on the fills! This app is the one. Good good stuff.
This definitely needs the background audio setting in app.
lol, too funny..
Nice. Glad you got it out before the pg thing, it would had really hurt the sales. They were supposed to get it out last quarter of this year, but that isnt happening.
Btw. Can you adjust the tempo to what ever you want with any loops? I know many drum apps have some tempo region that the loops can do. But it shouldnt be a problem when using midi like this?
Ok,it is late.
Yes...any tempo you want...they will still sound incredible. You can even change the tempo in the middle of a loop...change tempo several time throughout the timeline. You can even have multiple time signs in a single timeline..... just insert them where you want them by placing the cursor where you like and idiot your tempo/time sig. yes, midi assigned samples will not degrade in sound
@DerekBuddemeyer congratulations on what appears to be a terrific drum app. I've been playing with it this morning and there are some really great grooves and sounds in there. Love seeing all those additional sounds available such as the wood blocks, sticks etc, which really help to add variation to parts.
One request for the future: could we have some brushes? That would really seal it for me, in the meantime I can use Soft Drummer, because I love the laid-back feel of brushes.
Someone should change the title to "Drum Session is here!"
Oh and congrats @DerekBuddemeyer !
Nice, downloading, thx @DerekBuddemeyer
Are there a few 3/4, 5/4, 6/8, 7/4 patterns in there as well as the usual 4/4?
3/4 and 6/8 and 4/4 mostly that I can tell, there are a ton of loops to go through.
Freaking indie disco I had not heard of and I am loving it.
So I'm interested, haven't followed the app until recently. I think you would really benefit from some more screenshots in app and a demo video that goes further than the intro one from last week. I simply can't see what the app has got or the workflow at the moment.
Also the video mentions IAPs for more loops, but no IAPs on app. Are the 3600loops and 30 kits included in the base app without need for any IAP?
Thanks
Too many loops to count but I did start and I would say 3600 loops shipped with this indeed. And they are really useful loops. It is HUGE!
