What Kind of Sounds Would You Like To Hear From an App Called SHOOM?

Using adjectives only (but as many as you like) ... What kind of patches would you expect or want? Clue: Think Dr OM experimenting on Ondes with a theremin.

Kind of an informal survey as I prepare for a new sound design odyssey

  • Short mushroomy

  • 3/4 ton 1955-model Studebaker truck coming into land.

  • Whooshing noises

  • The sound of one clap happing

  • The sound you hear just as the drugs start to kick in..

    these are beautiful.

    Booms of Thunder!!!

  • Beautiful broken guitars shimmering

  • The glug sound you get when pouring from a newly opened bottle of Courvoisier

  • Anything between electro-static and laser-zaps :)

  • shoom was a late 80's club spawned from the acid house scene .... so im saying squelchy 303 bass type tones

  • The curious world of the laughing and crying of emoticons made audible.

  • Layered patches come to mind. Different sounds/waveforms with their own amp and filter envelopes layered together.

  • Magic expanding puffy rippling caressing iridescence.

  • Wookietronics

  • I'd expect a sort of long "shooooo" swishy sound followed by a "mmmmm" hum. But that's just going by the title. Or maybe the sound of my dog chewing on my boots?

  • The fantabulous Music of Dentistry, the drill, the bit, teeth pulverised, not to mention the spit sucker.....but of all, my favourite, that subtle nuanced sound cotton wool makes when placed between gums and teeth.

    Is it safe?

  • The sound of a caterpillar enjoying a beautiful psychedelic experience on the moon, taking into account the affect of the moons reduced gravity on sounds.

  • old school psychedelic, not (goa) psychedelic

The _shhhhh _noise John Lennon makes in 'Come Together'

Lennon is actually saying "shoot me". Kind of creepy :/

    By air or by sea?

^This, not so much, but I will try for the cotton wool ;)

  • Thank you everyone - this is actually very helpful  Although I am left wondering what kind of sounds mushrooms actually do make, and why Lady A had to go and steal my idea for a band name ...

Feel free to keep 'em coming!

  • Shoom sounds to me like something zooming past so I vote for Doppleresque sounds.

  • Fast synth sweeps
    Elevator doors closing
    Truck passing on the highway
    Fast sink drainage
The sizzling sound sausages make when first placed into a hot pan
Shining a pair of shoes with a soft cloth
A tennis ball flying through the air
Roadrunner disappearing in a cloud of dust

  • only cowbells!
