It is indeed. When I select a file and tap on the 'arrow up / open in' box I see Airdrop and all the 'copy to' options, but not an icloud drive option ? I have audioshare selected in the list of icloud drive apps, in the icloud settings.
(I could be doing this wrong)

I usually use Dropbox but I just checked this and see no way to access iCloud Drive from AS. AS is on in settings.

Look for Document Picker, that will get you to iCloud Drive.

Edit: The Document Picker is only an option when importing audio but doesn't seem available as an export option.

    Figured it out !

I needed to long press on the file in the left hand side list of files and choose the 'export' option to see icloud drive.

Here's what I'm seeing. I can upload from AUM to iCloud Drive. But I can't download from iCloud Drive to AUM. The option is not there.

I can download from iCloud Drive into AS using Document Picker but I can't upload to iCloud Drive. The option is not there.

  • See my post above, apologies I deleted the quoted response to @yowza, as I'd figured it out after posting it.

    Oh yeah!

Can't delete files in icloud drive, swipe left showing up ? Edited after solving: activate icloud app for homescreen in settings.

Timeslips are an occupational hazard, when you're me. Just last week, I spent half an evening in the 1970's. A fine time it was too, except for the Bay City Rollers.

I take it you managed to avoid Leo Sayer then :D

Nothing wrong with a bit of 'Thunder in my Heart' ...not so keen on the rest, though. :p

It is the dancing which is most disturbing for me :s , Oh and the hair :D

  • i have one more very simple request:an option that a recording starts with an incoming signal.Would save me to trim all recordings.

  • @Nathan said:

But, we've never even met. ;)

    I have been stalki.........Oh I mean, no we haven't :D

That would be really cool. Master Record can do this.

Leo Sayer's mother-in-law (apparently) used to rent a room in my mum's house. She hated him.

hehehe, was it cause of his dancing and hairdo ?

It's on my list of feature requests to consider :)

  • An option to just delete files and avoid putting files into the trash folder, would be very, very useful.

  • Agreed, I'm a skilled adult, I can safely delete my own files or not. Just makes more work having to go back into Trash to REALLY delete them.

  • @Fruitbat1919 said:
Yep one tap trash would save a lot of time.

Oh yes. And a Beiber filter as standard. :#

An IAP I'd be really interested in buying with AudioShare (or a companion app) would be an iOS instrument maker. Specifically, a way to use my library of audio files within AS to make sample based instruments for apps with text based formats. So, instead of moving 16 samples to BeatMaker to hand roll a kit, I'd like to select 16 wav files and have AudioShare generate the instrument data+samples as a package that I could then 'Open In' the target app.

That is a really good idea.

  • Good idea. Oh, and I still want a metronome :)

  • LINK?

I use Audioshare in my input slot a lot.

    Yes, please.

  • @j_liljedahl Quick feature request: Please add "Rename" to the Tools dialog in the Audio Edit Page.

I use Audioshare to make quick and dirty field recordings quite often. When I end the recording, it then opens it in the Edit/Info page, which is great. However, to rename the new recording, I have to jump out to the enclosing folder and find it among the morass of other files named "Recorded Audio(...)". Being able to rename without piling through timestamps and previewing files would be a great time saver. Thx

    ^ Love it.

I've asked for this before at some point but on the rename tip... would really love to see save as and overwrite options when saving an edit. As it is now when you trim a recording, for instance, and only want/need to keep the trimmed version you have to delete the original and renamed the trimmed one to get rid of the AS added text in the name. I realllllllly like the current "save as new file with the edit type appended to the name" method, it's a very thoughtful and user friendly feature. Don't want it to go away! would just like the option to skip it when I'm sure I just want to replace the source file. If avoiding oops is important, the original could be moved to the trash with "-original" appended to the name.

  • Hi all,

Regarding trash and avoiding oops, it's always a difficult balance to actually avoid mistakes and not get in the way too much in normal workflow. I got too many mails about "I deleted my files, how can I get it back?" so I added the Trashcan two-step deletion. I will make it easier to empty the whole trash, and improve the annoying frequency of "you have old trash" popup.

Rename in Tools is a good idea. Perhaps I should rather try to think through all the different menu's a bit more. There's only a couple of things that makes sense only in the library or only in the wave view, everything else could be available at both places.

There's another reason for the "never actually change a file, only create/rename/delete files", having immutable files like that makes it much more robust when it comes to multiple of my apps sharing the same storage space. What would happen if you trim and replace a file in AudioShare, while the same file is currently playing in a FilePlayer in AUM? As it is now, it should (I hope) work as expected, a rename is detected and it should automatically update and find the file, same with deletion.

Hi Jonatan. Is that a real concern? If I had a file playing in AUM and for some reason I went to AudioShare and was editing that same file there's 99.5% chance the reason I was editing it was so that it would alter it in AUM. Perhaps I go to normalize it or clean up a loop...

As it is now, it should (I hope) work as expected, a rename is detected and it should automatically update and find the file, same with deletion.

Does this mean there's no subscribable event for "a file's contents changed" while there are events for file system level operations like rename and delete that AUM (etc) can subscribe to know when to update?

  • One thing I don't care for is that the file name is fully selected when choosing to rename a file. I find it fiddly to deselect and then place the cursor where I want it. Since you're here @j_liljedahl ;)

Anyone know of an iPhone app that can currently do this? (Master Record is iPad only, sadly).

    Would be super useful.

Maybe so, but I can't imagine how that could work. Each target app would need to implement the import and unpacking ability itself, and they would all need to work to the same standard. That sounds a bit like trying to get a room full of cats to sit and roll over on command. Even @j_liljedahl probably couldn't pull that one off.
