  • @geremy: so you did quit garageband (shut it down completely?), and after restart it worked? Doesn't give me any outputsound here yet..., and I wonder what else I could try..
    Cheers, t

  • No, I just went away for a few moments and came back. Did not double click and swipe. Then I disabled and enabled monitoring and it worked. Furthermore, now it works all the time.

  • Can you guys who already own the interface please bug them to release a windows driver ? It's pretty much the only thing keeping me from buying this :(

  • @geremy: which kind of device?, any chance you have a 12" pro (since I can't get it to work), please elaborate...

@gonekrazy3000: KMI are on it, it's just a question of time. Also: it makes much more sense, if you bug them about it yourself (after all, we already bought it, and YOU are still a POTENTIAL customer...).
    Don't worry, it's coming...

Yeah and KMI seems to do the right thing (so far) with firmware releases: under-promise and over-deliver.

Animal: I'm on a iPad Air (version 1) with iOS 9.3.2 and whatever the latest garageband is. If you have garageband I would try that and see if you can get it to work. If I were a betting man, I'd say that there is a good chance I will pick up Auria Pro "for testing" tonight.

This really opens a whole new world for me with the hardware integration. Time to buy a powered hub so that I can connect the k-mix and the bsp at the same time. If I can have my eurorack synced nicely with elastic drums I will be a happy boy!

The other thing that I feel I should mention is that (at least with garageband) the k-mix (which was plugged into the wall) did not seem to draw any power from the iPad. I recorded for a bit over an hour and my battery usage was about 8% (give or take).

  • Well, I tried it with Garagegband, too, and it's the same story there for me: no sound (output)..., if I could make it work, I could test the whole Auria-shebang beforehand for you, but alas... . K-mix played fine through a 4port hub here so far.

  • I bought Auria this morning and will hook it up this evening. Recorded more last night. No real issues to report. I wonder your 'no output' issue is related specifically to the ipad pro. I would use the keith mcmillen support contact to ask.

  • Auria pro is working well...8 ins and 10 outs show up in the matrix...recording works well, and with my tested recording of 4 tracks Auria was showing about 6% cpu.

It works! I am only using GarageBand and initially I could see all 8 ins but monitoring the stereo out from the iPad (the main 1&2 output back through the k-mix headphone port) wasn't working. After going out and back into the app though I was able to monitor all channels and get the GarageBand metronome and hear all 4 of my input tracks. So bottoms line is it is now doing what I would like it to do and it's probably time to invest in Auria.

The 4 inputs are coming from my eurorack btw...

I don't know if the aux outs are working, but the mains and the headphones are.

Now to bug KMI about getting the transport controls working...

This is flipping awesome. Now I can record in the evening and add fx and mix down while laying in bed!

Would love to know if the Kmix works as a control surface for Auria Pro. Since Auria only takes Mackie control, I wonder if anything beyond the transport controls on the kmix work.

Damn, the kmix is looking like a solid choice. Do you have AUM, by chance? Wondering if all the ins and outs work there.

  • @geremy: I don't own a Pro, my iPads are Air 1 and 2 (that's why I'm so curious as to why it's working your place but not mine...). Contacted support,...well

  • So I can't get the transport controls to work yet in Auria. I have sent keith mcmillen a help request though, and they have been pretty responsive so far.

I don't have AUM and don't anticipate purchasing it soon. Sorry.

Side note: I've got a Zoom R16 working as an iOS interface if anyone is curious.

I'm curious , please explain , here or maybe start new thread .
    just stereo , or multitrack i/o ?

  • @lukesleepwalker: all the inputs definitely work in AUM (selectable as 1to8 Mono, or 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8), I did record and am able to listen to the files later on. All the outputs are selectable the same way, but as mentioned before, I personally don't get a sound put out through KMix... . I guess this experience, together with a working unit (cause maybe mine is just faulty...) should tell you it will work. Same in Auria, by the way-. Cheers, t

  • thanks for the report @animal. Am I right that MIDI controllers need the McMillen extender thing (with proprietary connector)?

  • @lukesleepwalker: you need the Extender for extra DIN-Midi, USB Midi will work by just having everything go through a powered USB Hub. I have KMix, softstep, Quneo and nanokontrol all running and working at the same time.

  • @animal. Cool, thx for the input. Gonna save me pennies... I really like the features and the design.

  • Animal, do you have the master volume control in the 'main' or 'headphone' page turned up? I'm sure you do but just wanted to check.

The other great thing about k-mix is that it has onboard eq/comp/verb. Not a big deal when hooked up to OS X, as I have all the inputs routed pre-effect and use a daw to add those things, but in iOS where the cpu cycles are precious, you can have a post-effect routed inputs into Auria as a k-mix onboard preset.

    I really love this thing.

  • @geremy: yes, headphone gain is up. Thanks for trying to come up with ideas, I use it with the Mac anyways, but would very much like to have an experimental go with ios, too.
I hope I don't have a faulty device, since I bought directly from KMI...(USA to Germany, you know, back and forth thing, you know, my, my...)

I've got it working with an IConnectaudio4+ and Live 9 - PM me if you want.

  • Animal: another quick thing, audio out seemed to stop working in Auria for me for a bit, but I realized I had the iPad volume set to just over halfway. It apparently needs to be up full or near full to hear anything.

Dear Sir geremy, you've hit it on the spot!, I can't believe it, but it's working now... . I would have never thought of that, since the loudness buttons only work on the iPad-headphone-out normally, and the KMix is connected through lightning.

Well, what can I say, you're my saviour, thank you so much!

  • Awesome! It surprised me as well. I was frantic for a good 10 minutes trying to get sound back. Glad it's just a simple thing!!
