  • Yesssssssssssssssss!

  • What is this beat seeker you speak of, what magic can it perform for me ?

  • By the power of greyskull.....

  • I've got a little grey hair left

  • I dyed mine. I really wished they would make mini packs of dye.

  • I dyed my stubbly grey beard red for Red Nose Day once, but it went pink. I shaved it off, but still had a bright pink chin and face :|

Balding before greying here. Annoying to miss the silver fox part of all of this!

That aside, this release makes is inspiring me to attempt a Seekbeats+Patterning+Elastic Drums+Tweakybeat only jam tonight.

Yeah did something similar with my eyebrows....ended up being Mick Karn for a while after that :p

Balding first too, grey come later, no fox here, more of a hairy ass cheek look.

Wow Mick Karn, I was beginning to think I was the only person left who remembered Japan.

  • I read the dj'ing thread earlier and it got a mention in there, wondered what it offers for beat making, I heard mention of oscillators and am intrigued.

  • @AndyPlankton

Always wanted to do something Japan like, but I think they worked because they played as a band for so long.

Yeah the sounds are made by a 2 Osc synth.

Yeah they did, I got into them when they brought out ghosts, but then went through the back catalogue, I really liked they way they matured and changed their style. Their first album was pretty much heavy rock.
I think obscure alternatives is still my favourite if really pushed to pick one. I really liked the sound of Sylvia's vocals on those tracks. And they still had the guitars.

No way man, a big fan of Japan too....
    Obscure alternatives... <3

Ditto. There's some deep down dirt in OA.

  • Rhodesia is probably my fav track :)

That is a close second for me :) and is probably the track that has influenced my guitar playing the most. Proves that you do not have to hit the thing hard to get a powerful sound from it.
Gonna rock on, to rhodesia......I'm gonna have to play that album again now, probably on the way to work tomorrow :)

Both Rhodesia and Obscure Alernatives had a reggae beat to them...both great songs actually that album is my favourite. :D

Yeah a nice laid back reggae feel, but somehow still rock.

  • That song is so fantastic, the way the bass "walks" in polyrhythmicly and then the vocals over the music, almost in slow motion spread over the fast moving beat...just fantastic <3

  • What he said!

I'm still in awe of how well they made simple tracks gel together.

Yeah they were masters at playing together in many different rhythms.

  • Will check out Japan
Seekbeats glitch kills all audio on device...
This when I hit pads "too" fast or adjust params on the fly

  • Night porter, how could I forget night porter :o

God I'm on a journey again, they've always been there but I've not listened to these for ages, my second favourite album would have to be Gentlemen take Polaroids.

That doesn't sound good, you'll have to go and listen to Japan while you wait for it to be fixed :)
