That's all i'm saying....

App is out so why all the secrecy?
referring to new stuff in the beta methinks
I hope the dev keeps supporting IOS 7.0
He's still supporting ios5 (only the midi tho) for ipad1
I have been getting stuck notes with external keyboard input playing out/thru to hardware with current appstore release . I'm hoping betatesters are testing this setup & next release solves problem .
Agree, the next update will make you go wow!
Any idea what's coming in the next update?
My hope for Modstep is "the Loopy of midi" (while we wait for Masterpiece?). Or "Gadget un-walled".
Current version isn't quite there. It takes multiple taps on a cell to create the empty measures, start it playing, hopefully clicking it on the fourth measure so it starts on the one with my other loops, then finally click record. Other little usability things with the piano roll keep it from being as quick and smooth as Gadget.
Hoping the new version has a midi mappable one click experience similar to Loopy to capture midi phrases.
@gburks I heard @SecretBaseDesign is cooking up something along those lines. I'm very curious about his MIDI looper. Hopefully it'll be out soon.
I still didn't purchase Modstep because the price and the learning curve have been putting me off.
If there was something like an Easter sale coming I'm pretty sure I'd take the plunge...
Any chance for that to happen, @cblomert?
I'm still hoping for a much better piano roll input system and the ability to import midi clips
Yep, same fence.
same here, as soon as i see it in sale i'll get it to try it out
Glad to hear the devs are going big on the update.
Probably not the thread for this but does anyone know if you can loop a sample in the sampler? Couldn't find a way to do this.
@kobamoto
I have seen the future and it includes following actions
The only way modstep goes next level for me is if they include a way to record audio directly into clips rather than having to record and drop it into a sampler, it just isn't very elegant, but if I could load an iaa app that doesn't accept midi (like figure) and record its audio output into a clip it would be game over.
I think it is game over, I have to test it, but I'm driving right now. Will check back in in about an hour
If that means what I think it means I'm very excited.
say whaaaaaaat
what's the eta of the next update?
No idea, probably said too much but I had to share...I've been indoctrinated, when ever I hear "following actions" I'm all @kobamoto
Sorry to get you going!
It's not what you're looking for, Modstep does record the audio from Figure into a stem live and in sync loop accurate with the other midi tracks played/recorded. But. The audio doesn't then become a clip on the matrix. Workflow wise there's still that second step, the clip can then be loaded and played via the inapp Sampler.
What I didn't know, was that if you're playing live, with a generator app like Figure and other stuff, inapp or via IAA midi sequencing, that the multi-app performance with apps like Figure can become a loop accurate multi stem recording. And this is pre beta/update I'm pretty sure, that IAA generators like Figure record into stems...
Isn't the problem that the level is already too high (as well as the price)?
I buy almost EVERYTHING. And, I'm the target audience for Modstep... a dude with too many synths and too much time on my hands.
But the low reviews emphasizing bugs and a challenging UI, combined with price, I still haven't bought. Keep in mind I buy my iTunes cards at 80%, too. Keep in mind I've been a huge @WhiteNoise Genome advocate here... so I'm not afraid of buggy quirky, complicated software. In fact, you should buy genome. Once you "get it"... wow! Same for @technemedia's different drummer.
The only thing that would motivate me to buy modstep right now would be a sale price to promote a significant update with improvements in usability. I have plenty of new stuff that works great to be learning.
Finally, I don't want to discount the rave reviews of Modstep from some people. The developer is fantastic, and I love the ambition. I just don't think it's ready for a larger audience at that price.
I was born willing, but much of this covers my hide also.
I cant see it myself but you can get ModStep to launch the fileplayer in Aum by triggering it by a Midi note event. Until the Aun update it looks to me like the current Aum only launches after a Ableton Link 'quanta' has passed.
I hope tuplets & non 4/4 midisequencing is ergonomically implemented (as promised I believe) before follow actions , lets get the basic midi sequencing sorted before the macro stuff .
re: audioloops , I agree with @Judochopjames , as I said in another Modstep thread , until it can record audio directly into clips it's no good for audio , & neither is AUM if it involves delving into folders searching for recorded files to load into fileplayers .
Loopy ( Masterpiece ) will still be my solution to instant access audio looping.
ooo were can we try the beta ?
