  • Michael would love to hear you talk about what you want to do to samples, audio, tracks with fx, specifically what kind of unique things that we'll be able to do that aren't usually available in other apps?

    regards

@Michael Hi Mate, it's Grego (your biggest fan ever LOL ;-b)...

First thoughts... I'm not really convinced by the idea of Loop/Sample packs IAPs in Loopy ME...
For me, Loop/Sample packs IAPs are sold in Apps such as AudioCopy, iMPC, BeatHawk, SampleTank, ... which are all "bad" music Apps IMO, that I tried to use then deleted pretty fast...
But then, if I think a bit longer, I realize that my favorite music making Apps, i.e. Gadget and Beatmaker 2, both have some kind of sample IAPs in them... I tend to forget it because these Apps are not always trying to sell you more samples : in these Apps, the internal samples and (more important) the user samples are put in first place, which is very important to me...
(+ maybe, I love these Apps too much and don't want to admit that they also try to get more money from me...)

Anyway, if you implement nice Time Stretching / Pitch Shifting functionnalities, some Samples and Loop Editing / Synching / Chopping functionnalities and a nice interface to manage samples (remove, rename, directories, etc...) in Loopy ME, then you can try to sell me all the samples / loops that you want, I would even buy some to thank you LOL
    :D :p

(I know I probably start to annoy you with that but this would be my dream come true : an App. in which I can record, edit and play with my loops and still record midi patterns or audio tracks to go with my loops... LOL...).

    Peace.
    Grego

  • A little off topic but are we getting really close to launch ?? Like days maybe ?? I feel like a 6 year Old before Christmas ....

  • I'd buy. As long as it's not intrusive like others have said. Would be great to throw some drum loops in to Jam on top of. I for one hate programming drums

Thanks, just watched it again. It'll be really interesting to see what ships in this app. Everything I've seen looks to be in direct response to a pain point that I've had at one point or another in iOS music creation.

  • the thing I really like about Michael is that he's open minded, and not afraid to change his mind. These two qualities alone are immensely beneficial in a developer of his caliber. I can't wait to see what loopy masterpiece is capable of.

    • @ElGregoLoco - I'll do my best =)
    • @Hansson - days? Not so much! I don't want to give a specific answer, because I'm rubbish at estimating timelines and will probably be way off! But not too long now.
    • @lala - Haha!
    • @kobamoto - thank you!

I see, very good, the Bluff Cove gambit.

    The very same

No need to confirm it Michael ;-) I have no doubt about that...
And anyway, I know Loopy ME will be an app I can base my career on LOL (I'm teasing you with this expression, but for real, watching your videos and discussing with you, I already know that Loopy ME will soon be the main App in my music creation workflow... I can't wait for that).
    Peace.

  • Yes, I'm only waiting for Loopy Masterpiece to get my career started

    1. I think the question is whether Audiobus wants to be considered another company that sells "samples"?

    OR

Does Audiobus want to be associated more with music production for producers and musicians who make music and samples for an actual living?

    1. Is this being done because it is what customers really want or need, or is it a way to increase revenue?

(-If its to pump bottom line their are alot better ways and things to do)

I also think any time or effort spent on "sample packs" is time could be better spent elsewhere. There is also a pretty steep market curve on loop packs and samples.

Also, the proprietary and indemnity issues are not worth it in the long run.

Of course, this just my opinions.

  • This is me, btw, not Audiobus =)

    Same deal.

I think you a gifted developer who has a unique skill set and a great personality.

You don't need to be hawking .99 cent snare drums. Leave that to others in the industry.

It seems most who venture down that rabbit hole sometimes are never looked at the same.

More headaches then anything I say. That's just me though.

  • @Michael, I like the idea of a loop content store in LMP, it would be a way for you to generate some income once the content of the store is of fair price, All other developers doing it.

  • Do you have any particular anecdotes for that, @RustiK?

It seems a bit ungenerous to call it 'hawking' - we're all just trying to make a living over here. If people like it, it contributes to their creative process, and the content's good - and also, by the way, goes to paying musicians too (because I'll be hiring musicians to make it) - I don't see any reason to look down on the idea.

I'm glad you said that. I can make my own loops and program my own synths, but I do love where other people's loops and sounds can take me. Why limit oneself and the market for the app.

I don't think many people will be put off a good app just because it offers the opportunity to purchase extra content. If the app is good, people will use it. Those that don't are just 'cutting their nose off to spite their face', as the saying goes :p

  • Stephen Hawking. Amazing. Never put that together before. I collect people who have names that are stand alone sentences. There's a real estate agent in New Jersey called 'Russ Poles'. Lovely.

  • Haha! Now that's winning at life =D

I voted no but maybe some sliced drum loops would actually get me to buy something, especially if there are ways to manipulate the slices etc...

  • Yeah, definitely slice-based manipulation would be amazing.

If you think there is a genuine market demand for such a venture, by all means.

In reality, I would tell you that presets banks for all the actual apps using Audiobus or Masterpiece as a platform would be more niche and in probably in demand.

How many "loops samples" for sale? Highly available?

    Competitive market?

Are prices are going up or down on loops and samples?

Now, answer the same questions for presets.
