wow @dwarman! thanks for this (and for catching my off-topic request). Having never programmed sysex controls in MIDI Designer Pro, it may be above my skill level. I'll see what I can do.
I wonder if MIDI Designer Pro could be a middle-man for Auria so that it receives the two nanokontrols' source data and sends it to Auria as a single Mackie device (and allow using two nanokontrols at once... )
Hi Hmtx. I bought MIDI designer Pro some time ago but have only opened it up a few times. I have to be honest, it blows my mind. Can it be used to control Auria on the same iPad? Maybe I should revisit it or watch some tutorials. But if you have any success please let me know.
I can confirm that this also works with the new nanoKontrol Studio... Sort of...
Put it into Pro Tools HUI mode, and like the video says, make sure AP is in HUI mode and the nanoKontrol Studio is selected to send and receive control.
What works:
Faders, solo, mute, pan. In fact loading up a song loads up its mute and solo states and lights the correct buttons.
NanoKontrol's Per channel Rec button arms a channel to record! Cool!
Cycle button turns on and off AP's loop mode. Cool!
<< and >> buttons fast forward and rewind.
Transport works as expected, return to zero, stop, play record.
What kind of works:
Bluetooth Midi. Auria Pro doesn't have a BT midi connection panel, so you have to use another app that has one, like the free midimittr https://appsto.re/us/n_Ek3.i to connect. Something weird happens where the nanoKontrol Studio is listed multiple times and when you click to send or receive control, it turns off the same option in the copies of that option. Frustrating game of wack-a-mole later, clicking on options that turn off other options, and you can get the right options selected.
Scrub wheel, one small nudge to the left puts it in rewind, one small nudge to the right puts it in fast forward, but it definitely doesn't act like a scrub wheel.
What doesn't work:
Marker Set, <, or >, does nothing
Scene does nothing. Would be better if HUI mode could be one of 5 scenes so I could select different scenes for different apps without the hassle of shutting it down, reconnecting in assignable mode.
And, clicking the Track < or > kills the interface altogether, so effective;y this only works for the first 8 tracks. Once you try to move to the next set of tracks, it breaks, and you have to disconnect, kill Auria Pro, and start over.
@WaveMachineLabs which of these are Korg issues and which are Auria Pro?
How do they faders respond when opening a new song? Do the faders in Auria jump or do they wait for the nanokontrol faders to reach the right value then respond to the input ?.
Hi Shazamm. Are you also AuriaStudios over at Auria forum? Just answered this same question over there. Can't imagine it's just a coincidence. Cheers.
lol yes thats me. I bought the original nanokontrol cant figure out how to put it in hui mode. and cant find it on the internet. Would you happen to know how to put the original in mackie/HUI mode?
Sorry but I only owned nanokontrol2. Good luck.
