Having this and Launchpad just isn't making good use of space for myself. I even deleted LP5.
I wish the developers all success, but I will stick with what I have, unless it becomes something more in the future
Your criticism that these items should be blindingly obvious to Remixlive dev could also be thrown to Launchpad devs (who I hope also reads this thread) Totally agree that this app would be way more useful if it had Audiobus (so hopefully the dev reads this thread) but I guess the reason I'm cutting them a little slack is that two core features that are MASSIVELY IMPORTANT to me are sample import and ability to tune samples.
1) This is ios, so iPhone should get same treatment as iPad. Does their marketing team think that the core demographic user of an iPad is somehow more professional than iPhone user. No, it's economics and convenience. Otherwise, most people would just use Ableton on a laptop for truly professional editing ability.
2) What are Launchpads most known for. Using Ableton loops and that Madeon remix of popular songs. All sampled loops are in some key or another so the fact that I can't even change the tuning within the app doesn't make it convenient for me. If I've got a loop in the key of E and some cool ass Indian chants with tabla are in D# minor, it ain't gonna jive so lack of tuning astounds me since I use it all the time in Ableton and also dj software.
To end on a positive note, competition only helps us as it keeps everybody on top of their game.
Peace
Agreed! But let's not forget actions speak louder than words. Next time I hop on the subway, at least for my needs, I'll be able to use remixlive, I will not be able to use Launchpad on my iPhone
If devs are reading this, there's a delay in triggering AAC samples from my music library. At first I thought it might've been the ADSR settings but it's not as I played around with as well as tried different selections within the sample itself.
Please fix as I've been one of your defenders in this thread but with Novation Blocs Wave getting Ableton link, your app is losing ground since your iPhone sample import was one of your biggest strengths.
Thanks in advance
they responded to me on their youtube channel, might wanna post there as well
Thanks! I'll try that
Hi guys,
First of all, we wanted to thank all of you again for all the feedback and the suggestions. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that it really helped us prioritize what feature we had to work on in regards to the app. Sorry it took us so much time to respond to all of this but we've been following this topic quite closely and we thought it would be a good time to try to directly answer the different requests and questions that you have expressed.
Okay so, first things first, just to set the record straight, Remixlive actually runs its own audio engine that has been developed specifically for it. It's entirely ours, and we can basically do what we want with it.
As such, I can already tell you that Audiobus (input) and IAA are on the way in the next update, and that it should be coming to the App Store some time in the next few weeks. We would also really like to know to which extent is Audiobus output important to you, so we know how much of a priority it should be on our schedule.
Also, we felt you needed to know that we are looking at releasing around one update each month, so the app is definitely going to be improving and improving fast, and I can tell you that we have already a firm plan moving forward.
Now, to get down to specifics with the various problems and feature requests that you have reported:
If you feel that we have overlooked anything, you can remind us below, however there are also things that we obviously cannot discuss either because they're too far off or we cannot promise anything in regard to them.
See you later on the forums, and stay tuned for more news!
The Remixlive team at Mixvibes.
@Remixlive
Your response is appreciated I will try out your product again as the updates arrive.
Personally I think Audiobus output should be pretty high up on your priority list.
Inputs and outputs of any kind are important to users like ourselves who are always trying to get apps to work with each other in many ways
Inputs and Output is very important so I would say AudioBus in output is also important. As it is important that the import be addressed ASAP and not iTunes alone, Import from AudioShare and AudioCopy as well as Dropbox is a must in such a App.
In the wave where you adjust the A.D.S.R , it would be nice if you double tap the Wave and it's make bigger and you able to edit the sample as well.
@Remixlive glad to see you join the forum, it's a nice App , I hope the updates continue and you listen to your user base.
Thanks for chiming in.
I would like to fervently request
regards
+1 to everything kobamoto said!
1) Yes, the zoom and precise sample editing plus ability to export is very important and if you did this one thing well, would by itself make it a valuable tool for anyone on this forum since the only apps that currently "specialize" in it aren't that convenient: Hokusai and Twisted Wave. Blocs Wave seems to be focusing on it but it's not live yet plus their app is separate from Launchpad so if you guys could do it, would make it very convenient since it's all in one. I currently use Audioshare for this function but it was only an afterthought for Jonathan, the developer, which shows his genuis (gotta give him props)
2) Link/Audiobus/IAA are also all very important and obviously since we're on their forum but Link was a game changer.
3) Actually, lemme throw out an additional suggestion that might even help your Cross DJ sales. Why not implement Link with Cross DJ and sell some sort of IAP that connects the two apps? There's only one DJ app currently that has Link and that's DJDJ but it's only on Ipad but aside from that feature, not as advanced as Cross DJ. If you guys did that, that would be an awesome combo to have and I'd start using those two apps on a daily basis just auditioning songs with different loops.
4) Ability to export to an Ableton .als file like Korg Gadget and a few other apps. Please remember that a lot of DJ producers also use Ableton so if your apps could be an extension/addition of the Ableton workflow, that would be useful.
PS. Regarding the delay in triggering the sample, let me try and reproduce it again and send it off to you. Truthfully, ever since that day, I pretty much stopped using your app but your response has inspired me to give it another go.
Thanks
Hi,
Okay so, first of all, thanks again for all your feedback and feature requests. All of it is very valuable to us. Some of the features that you have mentioned are already present somewhere on our backlog, so most of them will be coming sooner or later.
Just to be clear, @kobamoto, when you say "follow actions" you do mean it like the feature of the same name in Live, right? As explained in that article: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct10/articles/live-technique-1010.htm
@gjcyrus, if you want us to look at the bug you've been experiencing, please contact us at [email protected] – if you've already done so, sorry, it's probably that you weren't using your alias ; so don't hesitate to sign your message "gjcyrus" and say that you're from the Audiobus forum, just so it's easier for us to not miss your email!
We're about to release the update with Audiobus In included, and after that we're going to focus on the next versions with more features and fixes, so we'll be in touch about these and we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, don't hesitate to keep discussing the app here, and bring features and bugs to our attention if you want or need to. Also, if you have suggestions regarding what kind of packs and what type of sound you would like to have in the future, or even if you have artists in mind that you would like to have featured in the app, tell us about it!
We're subscribed to that topic so we get new messages in our email inbox as you post them.
All the best,
The Remixlive team at Mixvibes.
ve team at Mixvibes.
yes, yes, and yes! and if you could make it so that we can 'resample' what we are playing and fly that into another track 'in sync' it would open up the app up in such a creative way!
thank you for listening.
Hi guys,
Okay so, first things first, here's the announcement video for the new Remixlive update:
Remixlive 1.1: Inter-App Audio, Audiobus, SoundCloud
In it you'll see a quick overview of some of the new features, which include among others Audiobus Input as well as Inter-App Audio compatibility.
However as stated before this is only the beginning, there are more features coming, and we plan on having a steady stream of new sample packs to keep things fresh, so stay tuned for more and keep these feature requests coming!
Cheers,
The Remixlive team at Mixvibes
@Remixlive , thanks for update, it's a positive step in the right direction, keep the updates coming
Just want to ask if and when it's in the audiobus out, is that going to allow for direct recording onto a pad?
Hi guys,
Thanks for your review @Nathan – and yes we realize regarding the sample packs, we are looking to expand on the current library. Thanks for the suggestion regarding State Saving as well, we'll be looking into it as soon as we have some free time ahah.
@gmslayton : recording onto a pad is an idea that we've been considering for a while, and it would turn Remixlive into an even more interesting tool for music creation. Audiobus Out is one of the ways to do it if/when it is implemented, however at the moment we are focused on Ableton Link.
Cheers,
The Remixlive team
in addition to the audiobus ideas you have please make it possible to do this from within the app (self contained)
regards
does anybody know what the unlimited recording features are in the iap?
The IAA mode has me interested!! Thanks for adding IAA and Audiobus!! I'll check things out and let you know what I think!
Hey,
@kobamoto, the “Unlimited recordings” in-app means that you can record audio onto pads using the mic. That feature is available in the app out of the box, however you can only use it five times before you have to buy the in-app. We realise the name isn’t so self-explanatory, we’re currently looking at options to change it to something more immediately understandable.
@Audiojunkie, would love to know your opinion on the app and if you have any feature requests or general observations feel free to chime in, either here or over at the other topic: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/230933
Cheers,
The Remixlive team
ok thanks, had a few Q's in the other thread, much appreciated.
