As a card carrying member of Audio Apps Anonomoyus, I am having a lot of trouble these let to weeks. I am craving new iOS audio synths, or effects, or whatever app relates to making music.
Are there any new apps coming out that I can look forward to soon? I need my fix!

I'm told we can look for the new Shoom app within a week "if all goes well". This is from the dev of Xynthesizr.

Really looking forward to this one.

AFAIK, Shoom won't be having iPhone support.... :-(

  • I'm still waiting for a quality sampler (like the one built into Beatmaker2) for the iPhone. Before anyone asks, I don't like or use Beatmaker 2 (maybe things will change with Beatmaker 3), and it would hardly be worth the 700+ MB size just for the sampler.

Also, aside from AUM, there is no host that supports AU yet on the iPhone.

Also, there are many, many apps that still don't work correctly when used as an IAA instrument. For example missing transport controls, having to open the app before it will work, Apps claiming to support IAA when really they are just using Audiobus with a minimal IAA subset, etc...

I'm also waiting for ThumbJam to get the Sampling rewrite that will improve sampling capabilities and include crossfade capabilities.

  • I haven't heard of this thumbjam update everyone is talking about. when is it expected to be released? sounds cool

Well, the update about to come out doesn't have either of those things unfortunately, sorry! But it has been too long already since the last update.

Crossfade... Do you mean like what Tachyon does?
TJ being able to do that between all of its intrument would be .... Man!
And what about a multi crossfade. From a first to a second and a third, etc instrument in one vertical swipe... I would cry...

  • I shall be doing a review of Shoom for Audio News Room. Will link here when done.

I'm guilty of thinking this was just another noise maker. I couldn't be more wrong!

Right I'm off to delve into Shoom....

Shipping today or tomorrow - and don't let Mr. 1919's comment fool you  You can make dreadfully hypnotic incantranscendent noise with Shoom, in addition to all the shiny melodic possibilities

Sounds cool, but I was referring to classical sampling, where the loop gets a crossfade to remove clicks.

Ah, it already does that, you can adjust the length of it too per sample... check the sampling interface...

    Yes, I'm waiting for shoom too, also the Dagger synth;
and there will be something new from sugar bytes! Although certainly in a while

oooogh I like sugar bytes apps, what is it?

I have no clue... They are about to release a new synth vst, and at the end of their new tease video they talk about something new for iOS, so... A new synth?

aww new sugar bytes synth would be wicked.

I would assume Looperator and/or Obscurium... both very welcome.

Yeah, but we discussed how you were going to rewrite the whole thing to make it easier to find loop points and map samples and such... That's what I'm waiting for.
