does that mean there is no midi in and out?
I'd just like to say that having midi in and out does not impede anyone from religiously playing live and shunning the black arts of sequencing.
Video of preset sounds!
Yay, see you guys in the morning! Bleary eyed.
This is absolutely amazing! Wow.
Just bought it , really good sound quality and very playable , I can see this fitting in nicely in my live aum setup .
This , in aum , going through frekvens , AUFX:dub and a bit of caramel dirt with iDensity playing some slowed down noise in the background = drone heaven for me . Wonderful . This weekend I shall mostly be recording a new drone soundscape album lol
Shoom, did SynthX and Thumjam have a love child, nurtured with psychotropics?
Same question . I have already TC-11 and Shoom seems easier to tweak sounds.
... midi in with cc's.
This app is really exceptional.
Perfect timing.
As the number and types of new apps seems to be slowing for minute, I have taken time to re-examine what apps I am using and why.
Low and behold, most recently, I started really playing "touch" apps in lieu of the MIDI keyboard. I wanted to take advantage of why I got into IOS stuff vs my old VST ways.
So, SHOOM is perfect timing as I re-kindle my "TOUCHING FUN".
Anyway, app is basically like the advanced darker version of ONDES I always dreamed of.
The app is clean and sounds perfect.
I would just like to have a recorder in this app to do mini loops intra-SHOOM.
Also importing samples to play with the xy axis would be cool.
That's me though, grass always greener.
Eustress - great job on the presets!
very good app, I'm impressed. Spectacular FM drone and even percussive sounds on a fretless board. That is really great.
True, it reminds a bit of SynthX which was one of my favourite synths.
The video preset demo sounds like the FX from the movies, "Forbidden Planet" or "The Day The Earth Stood Still".................... "KLATO VERTA NICTO"......... Very unique app tho.
When I first heard about this I swore I would not be getting it. Am I ever glad My mind changed and I got this. Just had a go with Iprophet, Ispark and shroom all stand alone using only background audio and it was pure joy !
Midi in not working for me using Pro Midi, AUM , Midiflow combinations and spells....
EDIT: was trying midi note in . It seems Shoom doesn't support note in
You are correct. But as I was trying to type it out, my 5yr old little baby girl was doing a "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!"....... ............. Bless her
Need help on holding notes, I could assign a long release amp value ,but I am sure there is easier way
@Korakios - there is a 'hold' button at the lower left corner. A circle.
I will get nothing done today.
Thanks!
It is here! On my iPad! And it is beautiful! Developer elite class.
Left a nice little 5 star review for you. Great job man!
Yep , this is seriously good, loads of CC control in too
midi CC modulation with Art Kerns app midiLFOs
Hmmm, bought but was expecting more, kind of disapointed.
Y axis can only be assigned to some synth parameters, not all of them. Kind of limited. I don't understand why one would put limitations like that. Not much of wave character change in the Y axis, pretty much only wobbling speed and depth.
will definitely try that combo for sure
OMG @eustressor your slagpipes preset is perfect, holy smokes I just can't get enough how it can be made to sound just like a bagpipe sample or a really dirty bagpipe. Very nicely done, well worth it just for that sound alone!
Made some further tests, few available parameters assigned to Y axis can do some interesting things to expressivity, but nothing revolutionnary.
Would have been great though to have access to all parameters such as glide level, reverb/delay level, enveloppe, a CC to control an external fx/filter etc.
Would like to have much more than 3 parameters, and also a reverse axis.
And why not a x axis glide parameter option...
Most new apps are a new recipe made from a bunch of feature, already available in other apps, and put it in a different package with most of the time, shy improvements to lure buyers.
I was up waaaay past my bedtime with this one... and playing more this morning with it. Gotta get out and away from the screen for awhile, but I had a question about midi with this app.
I'm very new to playing with midi. So far, I've only really been able to drive something like an arpeggiator like Arpist with easy MIDI IN/OUT & channel settings like DRC, Shape Synth, Animoog, etc. Can I drive Arpist with Shoom too?
I see Shoom show up in the Arpist midi settings, but I can't get it to play Shoom for me. Is this not possible with MIDI CC? If so, why is Shoom showing up in Arpist as a selection?
Also tried to drive Shoom via midi with SunVox and Shoom selected for channel 1. But can't get that to work either.
I'm positive this is just my own ignorance about midi stuff, but could someone tell me if it's even possible to do this and a little direction?
MIDI CC isn't completely foreign to me, I did manage to make a little midi cc controller in Midi Designer Limited to control Feildscaper and iDensity. However, I've never managed to control anything at all in Gestrument with any other app at all.
Clearly I'm in over my head here with regards to midi.
Have to admit though, it is still great at what it does, and overall quite satisfied. The multi synth droning morphing with 20-22K span has something quite unique.
There's no midi notes in to Shoom as far as I can see, just CC and clock so you can modulate from external sources but not send notes. I'd like to see notes in too since it has 3 synths would be fun to sequence one and play the others etc, maybe it will happen one day as it's early days for the app of course
So do you have to hold the "hold" button down simultaneously with a note to get that note to hold or can you tap the "hold" button and then it will hold the next things you press? Kind of like how it works in the SoundPrism apps. it's difficult for me to press two buttons simultaneously, especially when they are far apart, so I would much prefer the latter.
