I find both hands give your sound a great deal of character. But then I play without a plectrum mostly and there are many ways to coax noises out of those strings..
Yes I guess it also depends on whether you're playing rhythm or lead. Rhythm playing is much more dynamic without a plectrum because you can vary the volume and attack of the playing so much more, depending on whether you are using the nails or the flesh. Personally I tend to play the electric with a plectrum, and the acoustic without.
I too am of the sinistral variety. I play left-handed guitars now , but I learnt to play right-handed ones upside down too - in a limited fashion. You can get some very interesting chords playing upside down - the guitar I mean
I've remixed my track to bring the drums up a little more, and also made that pre-chorus drop a little more dynamic by asking Darcy to switch to the toms for that bit, and added a compressor on the bass to make it more punchy in that segment of the track (slow attack, fast release, to emphasize the transients, hopefully should have taken some flabbiness out of the sound).
....whether you are using the nails or the flesh something so penitent/sacrificial about that....
Thanks for your help. Vocals have been increased.
@richardyot That's sorted that wee section out. It flows more naturally into the chorus. The bass is more kicky which to my ears has made that difference. No flabbiness to cloud or mist up that part. More lithe, muscular & solid.
Darcy's move upstairs to the toms & the increase in volume gives your tune added dynamics & drives the song forward with a tad more urgency. Not enough to lose that laid backness which has been retained, so win, win. Great stuff.
Hey, @richardyot: I was about to review your song when I noticed you posted a new version of it. Well, I just listened to both and I think the second is a huge improvement from the first mix-wise: more steady bass and more consistent drums. I really didn't understand what happens with your voice at 1'48'' ("... flow from my mind..."): it seems like a kind of artifact. The song itself is great, very reminescent of 90's alternative rock, which I like a lot. Congrats.
Hey, @bluepunk: the bass and rhythm guitars are really good in this one. I like the way the song varies, very thoughtful arrangement. Your vocals are well placed and I don't see any part where they were masked by the instruments (I didn't listen to the first version to compare yet).I enjoyed the lyrics very much
Thank you Dimitri, very kind. I've started adding some effects to Guitarism/Amplitube & used the newish Mesa Boogie double rectifier amp sim.....(he says like he knows what he's on about)! Again, thanks for those bass compression tips last month. They were used in this song & work well for ifretless bass. Happy you enjoyed it.
Well that's a fitting tribute to the lad! Nicely done. Cheered me up after the injustice of the play-offs. The song is really well structured and has your characteristic drive, the vocal just feels a bit separated from it, perhaps it needs to be delivered a bit more aggressively/shoutily (it's not a word, I know it's not a word)? Great song though and has some really well timed drops. My folks had 2 Bichons both called Jo. No imagination some people.
That's great stuff. You timed it perfectly, has impact, creates an atmosphere, couple of drops then doesn't outstay its welcome. I like the little fade out best, and you but some really interesting sounds together. Brilliant
What I really like about this one is the tune. It appeals to the Cure fan in me, as does the vocal. What I would have like more would've been a really strong guitar sound, like the fuzzier stuff you did a few months ago. It would just give more drive and umph, which I believe is a technical term ;-). Good vocals and nicely mixed (more guitars!), but for me it's just a bloody good tune that really grabbed my attention. Great stuff
Great, not necessarily my cup of tea but very atmospheric, and coupled with the visuals became a hypnotic experience. I liked the sinister feel of the track, and I liked most of the sounds. The only real criticism I have is that I just didn't get on with the deeper, slightly honking sound. I presume many of the samples are voice based? Well I liked all the more percussive sounds but I just found that off putting. I've only just got Samplr so im excited to hear how you've used it. Good stuff, well done
Thanks!!!
Yes, most of the track is based on vocal samples. Samplr is a very deep instrument.
Thanks @crouchie glad you enjoyed it as I had a lot of fun making it which hopefully came through. Because this one slightly numbed the pain of your lads not going up, I'll make a similar song ready for the same time next year!!! No....I was gutted. Mr Hughton is a top geezer & think we all would've loved to have seen him passing Delia on his way up, as her mob plummeted back down. No justice in football is there? I imagine Jo (1) & Jo (2) both ruled the roost, as most Bichons, (any pet), does. Thanks again.
That's much better, I can now hear most of the lyrics!
Blades or Tigers? Do have a somewhat shameful fondness for Mister Bruce and his bruised nose, but suspect we need to encourage the next Leicester etc....
It's the other Sheffield, the Owls, and they rode their good fortune against us but I think Hull will manage it in the end. Suffice to say I will be quietly weeping throughout...
Tigers for me but either way, both teams are on my "not looking forward to those away days" list. Can't stand Tetley's ale!
Was so looking forward to all the South Coast visits. Oh well, will have to put up with the corrugated iron tin roofs of Bourn - mouth's poxy stands for another season. At least there's plenty of OAP parking down there........ouch!
crossing the Ganges at Rishikesh one must meet the formidable guardians of Lakshman Jhula...
this month I've been exploring some raga riddem with model 15, medly, patterning and aum.
and I now look forward to checking out your may flavours ..
cheers, badrico
Of course Owls. What was I thinking? Been away too long. Watched the game. Tense affair, and as many predicted Hull ground it out.

So bad and druggy in a very good way. Tremendous vocal style.. So damn laconic... Almost drooly.
Yep this is the delicious tragic romantic stuff.( bring me my medication ! ) Many fab touches.. The smooth monster bass slithering neath the saloon. The guitar threatening to nod off..the "break it down" that just goes dead.
Excellent stuff
Cheers, rico
O golly that's one gloomy chemistry lesson .
Certainly the right sound bed for those bodies of contemplation..the haunting aloof analysis atop the squirmy quilts of sound.
The tinkle of some exhausted sentimentals and the musty aromas of the ts eliot motel.
Great soundtrack for a bridal shower .
Cheers, b.
Tasty atmosphere, ruff and soft , the sweetness of the voices the muff of the Percs, and the guitar blades and slicing lyrics.
The poppy hooks combined with fierceness gives me a Clash vibe.
Juicy stuff !
It was and a cracking goal to win it. My Dad, God bless his "Tigers" soul will be celebrating in the Boothferry Park above. Meanwhile, his son would've much preferred a 99 on the seafront at Brighton!
Splendid melancholy groove. Really captures something sad and resolute. I did find myself keening for another flavour in this tale. It's so solid it could contain a very interesting diversion, give the theme another dimension.
Quality sounds throughout.
Cheers, b.

@badrico thank you for your great interpretation of my day to day activities! i am enjoying your piece you made this month, modern culture is the words that first came to me, and i just had to say it. reminds me of georges citar days . good stuff,
@bluepunk i really enjoyed this piece, i like your harmonies and melodies does sound fun to do, i gotta say i agree with mr.. goodyear that it feels as a a band is right behind you rocking hard. i enjoy the strong accent . it makes me think of how much people dont even know english but can sing any song in an american accent. keep it true . i like that ending, his breathing is in time with it
@tgig very industrial sounding i mean mechanical gears turning hammers and torches blowing hammer hitting metal , i picture a worker whispering lirics turning in motion multiple arms pushing twisting and turning . good piece
