Think you can add bits there , one of the patches I just tried had it filled . Only just got it so still working out how to use it !
Stereo. Not sure it makes much difference.
For those that want it, I found a ~postscript~ version of the original manual, and converted it to PDF:
Eco mode off seems to only use another percent or two.
hah, I really don't know what I'm talking about but...
I thought that it has 4 voices polyphony, so that would increase the CPU on some patches.
Then I'm guessing that the monophonic patches would be a lot lighter on the CPU.
(all of these in stereo, of course @Fruitbat1919 )
It's completely bonkers , I love it lol . Everything from the useful ' go to ' type sounds that I get from Thor , to the completely whacky unpredictable iVCS3 madness - but all via a gorgeous UI and with the big warm Moog sound . Skint now , but happy
)
Agreed. It sounds SO GOOD.
Not what I have found so far. Seems to keep around the same %.
Maybe there is some clever programming to keep the CPU hit low for the additional notes.
Whatever it is - it works well, I'm impressed with the sound.
Talking of value propositions. Fuel pump is essential of course, but that's TEN of these buggers...
@GeertBevin maybe you can reveal this mystery?
@GeertBevin ,
The power of social media.
There is a cat I follow on Instagram who is a modular God. I learned this app from him. Picked it up immediately. Of course this site would have a huge thread on it already... ;-)
The tutorial is absolute BOSS! I know very little about modular synthesis , but that tutorial was so well put together and easy to digest, I learned a lot! Plus it looks great on the 13 inch pro.
Cheers to the devs on this project! It's solid and the imagery is choice!
Keep your eyes/ears peeled for expansions money-spending opportunities! In the meantime, not a bad place to keep your old fuel pump...
anyone know of any good videos of the synth /presets not using additional fx or processing?
Take a look at this
Yes, it does not make a difference to process just 1 or up to 4 float values (samples) at once on a modern CPU when you're using vector instructions and long, packed operands. That is also the reason why it is not muti-timbral and will never be. It is just all the time doing the same processing of a patch for all 4 voices, only discarding some of them from output if not needed.
Bought it after all the excitement here but ran into bugs from the start on my new Ipad Pro. The first time I loaded it, I was able to view the quick start guide and learn a bit about how to navigate the app. Then I dismissed it to have a play but no sound at all came out. I decided to shut down the ipad and restart to have a fresh session but now it loads to a page that shows some of the synth on the left of screen and in a large grey box on the right it says "MoogModel 15 SYNTHESIZER" for a few seconds and then it quits and goes back to the desktop. App is still running but if I select it and bring it back to the forefront but it still does the same thing. I can not make it do anything while it shows that screen. Hope there is a quick fix for this. I'm bummed about this of course.
UPDATE: Fixed. My fault! I had the ipad connected to my Apogee One but the One was turned off! Turned it on and now it works.
Hey Aphex where you been man, of course you always show up when something good comes out!
Yes that's why I'm not too bothered if they get an AU going or not. My IPad Air2 is not going to be running many instances of this very soon
Is there some sort of LFO somewhere? I'm a little lost in that gorgeous UI (the cables don't help)
thanks for the tutorials, they help a lot btw
You can use the VCO in the middle as a LFO
Hey everyone, some answers to the questions above:
He explains it in the Sonicstate video. It is running the whole thing with all modules all the time (for all 4 voices in one go, which does not hurt CPU with a modern chip), I guess this happens 4 to 8 times in a sample period (because oversampling is needed for detailed emulation). Very impressive optimization of code.
iOS is limited in a certain respect compared to a Desktop OS so they could not dynamically recompile stuff in the app and optimize dynamically for some specific patch, like I guess NI Reaktor is doing.
It is the same scheme U-HE uses in his Bazille modular, which like the Model 15 app has a fixed number of modules.
@scadet could you please reach out to [email protected] we'll help you track down what might be going on
@Nathan Moog sells the hardware Model 15 for 10 000$ and with less features. In my opinion it's crazy generous of them to make this app. It's practically a gift. A gift which I cannot afford right now because I would have to buy a new iPad but that's beside the point.
Good point about not comparing iOS pricing to PC/desktop pricing. They are two totally different markets. Still, I think everyone has those moments of realization that they are getting what they used to have to pay hundreds of dollars for on desktop apps for a fraction of the cost. Amp simulators come to mind for me.
In my twisted old-school business head, putting stuff on sale is something you do when you need to boost flagging sales. That definitely doesn't seem like the case here! Why walk away from 20%-50% of your initial sales revenue just when you're doing the highest volume? My take is Moog is smart enough to know that they don''t need to put this on sale to cash in big time on the initial buzz.
[Edit] That said ... I'm not in due to the price point. Not because I think it's overpriced, but because I was able to talk myself out of "needing" it right now. If it was on sale I probably woulda jumped.
@GeertBevin congrats on the release.
Cool, thanks for the input
congrats, a new era, hm?
regarding the non-facebookers, any chance for these presets otherwise?
thank you! (Just found the sub-audio switch)
@crzycrs: those presets are only available with a Facebook account, it's very easy to create one and you'll immediately get the presets for free afterwards
