pixelwave is weird when it comes to midi. midi sketch wont talk to it unless i open it in a specific order [midi sketch first, then pixel wave, if i do it the other way arround, nothing happens] - and i could never get auria to speak to pixelwave either. either as a IAA or just midi out. nothing.

with modstep, i can add pixelwave as an IAA but i have to go to the IO option on the modstep traack and have modstep as a midi out. and go to pixelwave and on the settings, have it receive midi from modstep.

i hope someone with more experience can help, because i am not very savvy with midi in/out stuff. i have midiflow too, but i could not get my head around it.

even with sunvox i cant have pixelwave show up as a midi device. and pixelwave doesnt show me sunvox either. so strange, and its by the same developer! if you have an account at the warmplace forums, then you can ask about it.

i am useless when it comes to midi routing :'(

I can have pixel wave & the rest of his synths show up as midi devices in SunVox if I enable a wifi midi Network Session. Then it's pretty easy actually. And, with Apollo I can have pixelwave on my iPhone as a midi device in SunVox running on my iPad, but when you do that, the other module effects don't play.... Only pixelwave as synth played on the iPhone.

I'm sure there's a way to do it. The dev from SecretBase said I could do it combining Apollo with another midi bridge app, but it sounded kinda kludgy. I bet Midiflow is capable but I'm not sure.

Just bought PixiTracker and have only played with it for a half hour. Love it!!! So easy and fun. Pasted in some samples from pixelwave and SpectrumGen, very cool. :)

  • FYI: bought Midiflow and it indeed works by itself. I've successfully got SunVox driving 3 Comrade Z's synths Pixelwave, SpectrumGen, and Virtual ANS all at once on the same iPad without having to have any wifi midi Network Session running.

Just Had to set up virtual input and output in Midiflow. Easy.

And, Midiflow also supports Bluetooth midi connections. So, in addition to SunVox on the iPad driving the 3 synths I mentioned, I'm also driving ThumbJam on my iPhone from the same iPad SunVox tracker... all at once. Didn't even need Apollo. Midiflow is handling everything very well!

No, it's only SunVox. It's okay in a thread such as this, where the subject is that to start with. The folklore as it came to pass stated that on this forum, there's a variant of Godwin's law — in our case, all threads will end in someone mentioning SunVox.

thx. was wondering about that... since I keep mentioning it lately and all. ;)

And in turn, that all started with a collection of people mentioning that once they had got SunVox, they realised they needn’t have bought all those apps that they had already spent a lot of money on. People were saying that if only they could go back in time, they’d have said to themselves to just buy SunVox and forget about buying anything else (or sentiments to that effect). That’s what people were saying for a while, and that’s how it all came to be like it is now.

I can see how that would evolve. I do love the varied interface design of other apps too. And although SunVox and the rest of Zolotov's work is impressive, I can't imagine them to be the only apps I'd ever need. Some other user interface designs and sounds are inspirational in themselves, even beyond the actual output.

going to give this a try. might even get spectrumgen and virtual ans too! i should stop being such a chicken and just mess around with stuff, after all, if i think i "broke" it, i can always re-download.

  • There was mention on the warmplace site about a SunVox t-shirt, but it never went anywhere. I'm really surprised by this. Granted, it'd be a dumb idea for most music iOS apps to make a t-shirt of their logo, etc. But apps like SunVox have this weird cult following of people who'd definitely buy a t-shirt with the logo... even if they don't use the software at all. It's just got that underground coolness factor to it.

Music iOS apps that have or are growing cult audiences, like Moog 15 could likely get away with it too.

Here's an idea for a SunVox t-shirt I'd like to buy.

Bold SunVox logo on the front of a black tshirt. Yellow, red, and purple flames shooting of out of the top part that looks like an industrial chalice. Below it says in bold type, "ZOLOTOV COCKTAIL" and on the back it says "SunVox"

    Other ideas? :)

  • T-shirt, schmee-shirt!
Real SunVox fans get a tatoo.

    Or a branding ;)
