Music to crush Governments

What happened to the rebel yell?

I sit here with bad withdrawal from my medication because the government will not recognise my illness until I go to court. Withdrawal sucks. Head pains suck. Worse of all, the music just isn't angry enough anymore!

I bet even the toffs sitting in their studies smoking their fat cigars are laughing at how powerless music has become. An angry rap song in this day and age is so 'the norm' that no one cares anymore.

The music industry is just another feed into the rich coffers of the few. Pay your 99p per song or download illegally and pay for Internet access - it's all the same. The musician gets little, while the fat cats suck the cream out of big industry. All the time keeping the country just confused enough with ever changing laws as to be impudent to formulate a response.

Well if only I wasn't in withdrawal, I would storm the Houses of Parliament and sing So What :p

I think Juvenal calls it "panem et circenses". Looks to be going strong in here in the States as well. Sorry for your troubles @Fruitbat1919.

I partly blame the thing I'm typing on now (iPhone) , and where my text is going (the internet) . While it also does a lot of good , it also steals our time and depersonalises our lives . Digital anaesthesia . iOS apathy .

I'm sorry to hear your troubles - I'm struggling with a few too . But it's as if no-one listens or cares anymore , certainly not enough to challenge the scumbag Tories and their rape of the UK .

Strange times . Something's gonna break soon .

  • Oh. I thought this was going to be about the death of John Stabb from Government Issue.

  • With Flo here. Hoping for recovery, best wishes.

    Aye, bummer about that.

  • You mean the government doesn't do a good job running things?

Ironic, the counter culture 60's crowd is now running various governments like mini dictatorships where free expression and opportunities are stifled at every turn. Meanwhile, people suffer under endless bureaucracy and tyranny against the masses while others are given royal treatments.

  • You've got a good point there, it seems a lot of people are entertained to distraction. Not everyone is mind:

Some of the high profile one's maybe , but they were breadheads using the hippy movement as a vehicle to make money and gain power anyway . Most of the real counter-couture bods from the 60's are either still following the same path (with no exposure or publicity - ignored by the media as boring has-beens) , are too old to give a shit or dead . As for the Pistols , great band but hardly anarchists in any sense of the word lol

  • Yes, look at Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke) and 'Johnny Rotten' nowadays, quite a difference...

  • I've never been into music & politics/governments but am so frickin fed up with what's been going on where I live that I decided to make a concept album later this year. I have plenty of things in mind already but what I know is that I wanna make music/lyrics that even I'll be disturbed by.... kind of. Create and let off steam, guess that's what I'm good at and that's all I can do.
@Fruitbat1919 , hope you'll get better sooner than you think. Hang in there.

Maybe a bit long winded for some, but a very interesting viewpoint :)

  • live versions of radiohead's "no surprises" get a big burst of sing-along at the line 'bring down the government..'

    Funny and sad.

  • @Fruitbat1919 : Here in lurkerland I've been reading and enjoying your contributions for a long time. For the exact same reasons, I'd like to make angry GRRRRRRR music too,

    I'm with you.

good discussion on this topic non IOS related

  • It's gonna sound lame but what about voting the Tori scumbag the fuck out of the driving seat? Since anarchy isn't really an option might just as well go with something that's got social at heart. They've been milking anything that's for the people like there's no tomorrow so maybe there ain't for them.

  • Anger pretty much plays right into their hands, as they toss non issues out there for people to argue about and be distracted by.

Funny too, how so much anger is directed at Trump, when he is in fact anti-establishment: non-career politician who is not influenced by Wall Street, in other words opposite of Hillary. It's a shame people don't pay attention to what's going on, then all of a sudden want to rise up with sound and fury signifying nothing. Lesson is, when you're late to the party you get the hors d'oeuvres nobody wanted.

  • Shame is there isn't really any credible opposition ('cept maybe the other 1/2 of the Tory Party).

  • The whole world suffers the same ills, the solution has already started, but it's a work in progress.

Labour would be if the Blairites stopped stabbing J Corbyn in the back and the Tory owned media was kicked into touch for biased reporting lol

    Or we could always :

  • Crush goverments and their system by stop supporting it. Take your money out of the bank, do not pay tax, and create no debt.

    THEN make music about it.
