Hi @Matt_Fletcher_2000. I had enquired about how you did the Randomizer button in your TB MIDI stuff Gadget template. But now, with a suggestion from @ghostly606 to check a JU-06 Patch Generator template on the TBMS forum, I see that it can be done with Variable Messages.
So, all sorted now. Thanks anyway.

Bumping this thread as it is a cool one. I really enjoy playing with random sounds on the iPad and it's one of the features I look for in any new app.

TF8 has a nice random arp function.
Enumero can get random with numbers, elements, and morse code etc. Lovely eccentric little app!
    Bandshift has some random phasing.

@chimp_spanner you started a nice thread here! It would be really cool if the first post could be updated with a running list of apps with randomization from the comments? A lot to ask I know but I'm a cheeky fecker.

    Ta very muchly.

[edit: I'm pulling together what's already been posted]

Thanks so much gusgranite. Was just about to do this myself!

I read about the YouCompose app in this discussion while I was lying around in bed this morning. Downloaded it, and then wrote this while I was doing the tutorial. It took a few minutes. Mixing in Auria took longer of course. Thanks @kobamoto

First off: Cool :) Secondly, still YouCompose at all?

  • I believe most, if not all, of VirSyn's synth apps have the dice randomizer. Arpeggist does, too.

  • 3 more for the generative/random category list:

    1. Refraktions
    2. Dhalang MG
    3. Nodal

    Troublemaker.

Random note generation, but set the mutation controls to taste and you can have endless acid. I "Link" it to a 909 loop playing in Launchpad then adjust the pattern length in Troublemaker on the fly - from 1 to 64! Odd numbers work great for non-patterned repeats and the right 3-note pattern with mutations can be surprisingly effective.
