Holderness Media Apps are on Sale (Ended)
They are $2.99 today, down from $4.99. I''ve had my eye on Stereo Designer, so I'm getting that.
They were last $2.99 for just a week twice last year, so I don't think this sale will be long. Of course you can get all six of them for $15, which is a great deal, but I wonder if I would use so many.
What are your thoughts about Holderness apps? Any others I should consider? I am more than covered for reverb, and I have all 4 AUFX.
Comments
Crystalline is great to get something out of nothing. For now is the only one of the bundle I use pretty often, those rare times I get far enough to need some fx
Stereo Designer is amazing and Crystalline is a really good creative tool. I own but don't use the others.
I bought the bundle at the last sale . To be honest I don't really use them that much apart from Stereo Designer which is excellent . Crystalline is great but a bit too distinctive to use too often . Caramel I use occasionally , Swoopster I don't like , Johnny does nothing for me either . Echo Pad is ok but I have better delays I prefer to use instead .
If you haven't got many FX then it's worth a punt at the price , but apart from Stereo Designer and Crystalline they're ok , rather than essential imo
As the name says is a little demo.
I start mixing in crystalline and around 1' I tweak the delay time a little
Go - BUY them! Great apps Crystalline's my favorite. Very nice to add to a MicroBrute.
@reid Stereo Designer is on the desert island with me. Irreplaceable.
Every time these go on sale I think, "Really? There are people who don't own these yet? And they need a sale to be coaxed into getting them?" It's a weird world that we live in.
Crystalline and Stereo Designer are essential. Echo Pad is also very good for quick setups and panning.
only one i don't use is echo pad. I still don't get it. It's much more difficult to use than all the others.
i saw all the updates popping up today and was SO MUCH hoping for AU but...one can dream,no?
I bought Stereo Designer when I made my post. I think it's great. I'll think about Crystalline, but I have programs that can do things similar to that, from Timeless to AUFX:Space, Gliderverb, to all my reverb apps. When I jam with my guitar, it's usually over Timeless or AUFX:Space.
Although it looks like it's easy to get a great effect on Crystalline. Is it really so unique?
For an effects purchase, I do have my eye on RP-1, because it's AU. But probably by the end of the year everything's going to be AU.
But while I think 6 apps for $15 is an amazing price, I doubt that with the kind of music I make, I'll ever use those other ones.
Got to stem my appaholism somehow.
I'm not a big Crystalline fan (and thereby you can take my comments as coming from a very cold, mean place) but there is nothing else that sounds like it.
Where's the Johnny love? Absolutely awesome for adding vibrato to choral vocal patches, which makes them sound much more human and behave better in your mix. Otherwise, yes, totally, all of the above
Johnny rules!!
I like it, but I think it's got a much harder learning curve than all the others. I'm still trying to figure it out.
This is a question to which I have yet to receive a satisfactory response. However, this may be connected to the fact that I am only bold enough to ask it when she's already left room...
Thanks for the love guys! Here's a simple little jam I did with Crystalline processing a Moog Mother-32 and Volca Beats through Echo Pad.
Sorry, replied in another thread, but want to mention here that echo pad has been updated and working great now on my mini2.
Had some issues with it prior but no more. Thanks holderness!
terrific fx at a terrific price! caramel is brilliant for making sample based drums sizzle... wish these fx had automation... maybe they do?
I just bought the echo pad and I am totally blown away how sophisticated it is and the features it has...
I almost got panicky after I recorded a loop without knowing it.and couldn't get rid of it..lol, but the tutorials are good...
This is a number one delay app with the looping and mod. recording...features...WOW
THANKS @HoldernessMedia ....
It's very good for dub delays , trumps even the trusty AUFX for that one
Don't forget to hit "FX" and then "Dly Tweak"
Didn't know about that myself for a while.
Can you explain that an ounce more please?
Top left is the "FX" button, then bottom right in that drop down menu is the "Delay Tweak" button (Dly Tweak on iphone) which brings you to a page of slider controls.
Sorry, maybe everyone knows about this already. Not exactly a secret, just something that took me a while to discover.
Had to uninstall Echopad after the update because it started impersonating Audioshare. Exporting to AS from other apps (using the Audioshare SDK method, not generic open-in) suddenly saw 'App Wants To Open Echopad' pop-ups.
Now Audioshare is restored to primacy, I never use Echopad so I dunno if I should bother testing a reinstall.
Thanks.
AU version Please
I have always liked echo pad and stereo designer, so I decided to complete the bundle. I went to try the new ones out and only got as far as caramel. Four hours later I stopped 'cause I had to get some sleep! I like it!
Can't wait to dive into the rest.
I've never made Caramel fly for me (nor spent four hours doing so ). What did you find productive/useful/fun to run through it?
I think that it's mainly that after 30 years, I'm really tired of hearing myself play. And that includes all the standard guitar FX as well. So, anything new that can mangle up and spit my tone back out in ways that I think, "Whoa, who played that?" Gives me hope I won't continue to bore myself the rest of my days.
More to the point - I can distort a sound any time, but then it's still just the same old flavors of distortion. When something like this comes along where there are all kinds of ways to mangle sound and you can get such a variety of twists without even understanding what you're doing, it's really fun. Most FX are predictable and tweaking things you pretty much know where you're going and how to get there. Well and good if you're looking for a particular sound, but if you're just hunting for inspiration or trying to entertain yourself, it's nice to have something that surprises at each turn. That's the best I can explain.
Besides, Caramel has more to chew on than most FX. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
