Being idiots, developers rarely solicit my input on their updates...

    how it should read

  • How do I tell thumbjam to send the midi of each multi split instrument to a different synth?

  • The best just got better! An essential app for anyone even remotely interested in making music on the iPad (or iPhone).

Just tried drums and bass with two speeds of arp (latched), and a third lead instrument with arp but un latched . Absolutely superb . Always been one if the classiest apps on my iPad . I'm guessing there's a way to pump MIDI out to other apps but my brain can't handle that much excitement yet ...

The doubling up confused me as well. What you do is just load the instruments you want in the slots, doesn't matter which split number. Now choose how many splits. You'll probably see duplicates at first. Simply play a note in one split to select it, then change its instrument using the instrument slots. Whichever split you play a note in will select that and then you can change it to whatever instrument.

  • Nice update. Thanks

  • Download nearly complete, YEA!! I know what my IPad, ILoud and myself will be doing for the weekend in any free time of course.

  • on topic: having a ton of fun with the arp.

  • Sent 4 different arps to 4 different gadget synths! MIDI out is on consecutive numbers when multiple instruments are loaded.

  • OH MY GOD. Thanks to this beautiful update i now have 2 k-boards with scale lock and arps on 2 different channels  2 different arps! i love you

Yeah, forgot to mention that the Arps were independent per instrument slot, and also support midi-in and thru with optional scale lock. Glad you guys are finding this stuff out for yourselves :)

I heartily welcome anyone to post tutorials for the Arp feature, as I may not have time to do one right away.

Here's one tip that isn't obvious: if you press and hold the Latch button (while it is already latched) you can toggle notes on/off with your other hand. Or if you are starting a new latched set, as long as you have at least one finger down on a note you can use others to toggle on/off.

Cheers matey , I'll try again , and the MIDI out later :))

Awesome update!!!!! Did input quantize make it in?

That is just what I will be diving into this weekend.... figuring out the midi in/out split stuff. i assume maybe the instrument slot number aligns to the midi channel... Maybe..?

Anyway, I am so loving this arp. :)

If you use the Arp in "quantize only" mode it effectively quantizes your playing or midi input live, yes.

Yes, the midi channel numbers align with slot #. For input purposes you have to have the input channel set to a number (not Omni). For output purposes if you want dedicated channels per slot, don't use "channel per touch" mode.

Splits are totally unrelated to MIDI, it's only an on screen thing... as mentioned above you can set which instrument slot is associated with each split independently by first touching in the split's play area, then selecting a slot. So all splits could be using the same instrument (but they can have different ranges or scales), or any combination of anything.

    Sweet thanks

  • What does that stopwatch looking red button above the sustain pedal button do?

Beautiful. You should sell merch using a print on demand service where you increase the version number on the shirt to correspond with the app version. I bet the better the update the more shirts of that version you sell. :)

  • The best is now even better.
Thank you for your great work.

That is the Session Record toggle.

  • Amazing!!!!!!

At about 10 minutes into using this I was thinking it as was a waste of money cause I wasn't feeling the sounds that much. But a lot of the extra packs are good, and it seems like its best use is as a midi contoller.

How do I export all the loops as one file into AudioShare?

  • edited May 2016

@sonosaurus When I hit 'export to Audioshare' for a loop mixdown, Echo Pad is the app it's opening into, just so you're aware. I can still just use 'open in another app' to get it to AS.

Also, playing the new arp with a roto organ sample, I understand the Philip Glass reference now.

Incredible! TJ is a must have for any serious IOS musician. All the midi options as controller is amazing.

Request: Can you create a default template or factory midi options reset option? Haven't checked I ots there, but would love it as I noodles around a lot in there and nose font remember what was what. Please?
Dont want to delete and reinstall.

I'm also Interested to know if a 'factory reset' for the options is available or planned? Pretty sure I've looked for one in the past and resorted to an un and re-install.

** Awesome update btw. Thank you!

  • I know that there are supposed to be issues with using 3D Touch with velocity, but this works perfectly. And even better, I now have a decent velocity sensitive playing surface to midi out! Really appreciate the work put in here, thanks Sonosaurus.

Alas, there is not a factory reset of any settings, but I appreciate now the need for one. I'll try to get that in the next bugfix release.
