Sorry to post this here, as it is not directly related to either Music or AB, but I have exhausted all other avenues :|

I have a Win7 64 bit laptop, and iTunes will not start a second time.

If I reboot the machine, and start iTunes all is well.
If I close iTunes and then try and open it again, it will not open.....the .EXE starts and grabs a load of ram (I can see it in task manager) but the UI never appears, and I have to reboot the laptop again if I want to run iTunes.

    HELP!!!

This happens to me from time to time. iTunes hangs and won't reload.

For whatever reason, iTunes is still partially loaded, and that prevents it from running again, unless you reboot.

There is a solution (for me, anyway) that's faster than rebooting.

Press the Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys. Choose "Start Task Manager." Select the "Processes" panel, if it's not already selected. Select the "Image Name" column, if it's not already selected. That will sort the processes alphabetically by name and make them easier to locate. Select the "iTunes, exe" process and right-click it. Choose "End Process" from the pop-up menu. Confirm that you want to end the process. Sometimes there's a second "iTunes.exe" process that's listed. Do the same right-click and "End Process" for it.

You should now be able to load iTunes as usual, without having to reboot your system.

  • I had this working with an older iTunes and Win 7. Studiomux to FL studio 10 worked fine.
I uninstalled iTunes at one point because it slows down the computer boot up horrendously.
When I tried to reinstall at a later time, it was the newer iTunes version. I could never get it to open. Then my PC got fried, and I didn’t care anymore.

That is my stupid story. The main take away is that it does work if you have the correct older versions of the software involved. And don’t try to uninstall iTunes if you ever want it to work again, I suppose.
