  • Something like Navichord where you could route the internal pads for preset chords out a separate midi port or channel and have the keyboard go out via another midi channel. I know I can already do this with my beloved Navichord but for some odd reason, when switching from Navichord to Midiband there's a breakup of the sound where this doesn't happen at all with Cubasis. So this option for me would be awesome. Not two onscreen keyboards but the midi out option.

I got it with the Yamaha mixer i swapped for one of my interfaces on Memorial Day sale weekend/Moog weekend. Glad they gave me the mobile version to activate. Damn good daw IMHO.

You’d think if it were a Yamaha mixer, they’d have given Yamaha Mobile Music Sequencer.

Steinberg is also owned by Yamaha, so in a way Cubasis is "Yamaha Mobile Music Sequencer Pro" ;)

  • Navichord has a lot of issues with audio recently... I'm not sure why. @Tones4Christ You would think an update should fix some of those issues here soon, but it has been a while since I could rely on using navichord since the whole sequencer engine was added. @u0421793 perhaps they know their item is terrible. At least from what I can tell lol. If I wouldn't have flipped the card over after registering the Mac version it came with I wouldn't have even known it came with it. Only problem is you must have your mixer plugged in to use it, so I eventually caved and bought it at 30 bux. Which is understandable considering the quality of cubasis. I never would of bought it at the original price range. Clever marketing that worked. :)

  • "Reduced price" after using it with the mixer or course I'm going to want to use it without my device plugged in. Clever bastards.

That’s interesting, so the mixer acts as a form of dongle. I wonder what they’ve done to the audio usb converter to make it seem unique? I’ve got a Tascam US-100 interface, and an Allen+Heath Zed10 mixer, both of which contain a TI PCM2902 (an older version than that “c” version) and I believe that the Behringer UCA202/UCA222/UFO202 uses the same USB audio converter. On all these devices the USB device string is presented as (according to the data sheet, and the two devices I have here) “USB Audio CODEC”. Being a Yamaha mixer, they might or might not use such a USB interfacing DAC — they have in the past used Burr Brown DACs quite extensively (and the PCM2902 is a TI Burr Brown DAC).

@u0421793 No, They simply coded the cubasis LE into the activation code which is unique to each mixer sold. Once you have registered your device(Electronic Licensing) you have the option to unlock the full version of cubasis via an IAP of 30.00 instead of 50.00. You don't have to download anything else because the version of Cubasis LE was coded specifically for the mixer which was purchased. Just as any piece of software you buy digitally. After you press unlock you don't have to do anything more. It is already downloaded, and it still says cubasis LE which drives me nuts. I want the real logo, but the app store has it's limitations as we all know. You must go online create an account and you'll have two or 3 activation codes for the Mac Version as well. You did some mental gymnastics though, I applaud you for that.

  • It does not work without a CCK, so it isn't as if the device has some sort of script inside of it. It does however have usb audio at 192khz, direct line monitoring switch which is convenient. Look her up. Yamaha MG10XU 10‑Channel Analog Mixer ‑ 24‑bit/192kHz.It is one of the more warm analog sounding and feeling boards I have used since running a giant analog one during Recording arts and engineering school. It's a digital analog hybrid with 24 on board effects. Got it for 100.00, Sent back my behringer Uphoira 4x4 which I was waiting on a replacement, and ended up getting a much better deal.

I still find my self using the Yamaha Mobile Music Sequencer, partly because I'm quite fond of the 'Yamaha Sound' and the piano-roll (in song mode) is so well featured (everything is automatable) and featurerich I'd pay IAP to get the Cubasis piano-roll functionally replaced by it (better grid options, selection tools, note manipulation and note resolution is at least 480ppqn). In some aspects it beats the piano-roll in Gadget too... Too bad it's limited to 8 parts :(

The Yamaha sound is precisely why I wanted this particular board. What part of the app would emulate the analog richness and punchy clean signal? Genuine question, because I am obsessed/impressed each time I hop on and start a track with the richness in bass, and quality of sound it is able to produce.
I know don't judge a book by its cover, but that app looks straight out of Nintendo ds.

I think @DeVlaeminck was referring to the AB3 promised by our forum hosts, though a port of the vst would also be killer...

Don't even get me started on ports from vst...

  • Loopy ME should be released soon and I still hope for a BeatMaker 3 app (with proper import/export functionnalities and a better sound engine, this would be awesome).

    • Cubasis 2.0 for the win (I really hope they add some time stretch / pitch functionnalities... ).

    Peace.

  • I'm looking forward to BM3, NanoStudio 2 and major updates to Beathawk.

  • I don't know when the witching hour will be but I have a feeling we're heading for another sudden season....

I hope you are right! But now I'm catching to what I missed. AUM and Model 15 for starters.

it's been kind of slow I. the iOS app world. Anybody know of any new apps coming soon. Moebius lab from Amazing noises in coming, very soon and is fantastic.
    Any body have any others?

I know what you mean- I have been thinking the same thing for the last month or so. Novation mentioned in the blocs wave thread at the start of the month that they were working on a couple of new releases for the next few weeks. You could try asking them- I have already but no reply. They tend to be selective about the questions they answer for some reason- despite their grand announcement that they are 'on the forum'. And before anyone tells me.. Yes I'm sure they are very busy... and I am very grateful and think myself lucky that they do occasionally contribute.....
