    Forgot to mention that Xynthesizr is not actually an arpeggiator but it can actually be more inspiring. It can send notes out to separate MIDI channels, based on coloured regions in its sequencer, which does lead to some interesting, creative results.

    StepPolyArp is tops for live or "dynamic play. B step sequencer is SUPER flexible and not just for arps.

    Apreggionome is tons of fun and very flexible when it comes to switching speeds and keys. PRO even more so.

    As a side note you can also use ChordPadPoly and slide the Strum all the way to the right and select as many keyboard keys you want to arp over per press. Up down and random are available. Bit of a hack but if you're already banging away in it for chords why not. Beats switching.

    Necklace could be fun too.

    I've not said it is impossible to use, only it is not yet really comfortable. For me an example of a UI taken w/o significant changes (the zoom? come...) from the desktop version, where it worked pretty well

    I've not said it is impossible to use, only it is not yet really comfortable. For me an example of a UI taken w/o significant changes (the zoom? come...) from the desktop version, where it worked pretty well

    I do use the zoom on Pro with this. Seems to screw with some apps (Session Band for example), but helps where it helps....

    StepPolyArp for me as well. Thesys can do some interesting stuff but the UI sucks.

    Arpist had an update over the weekend, to wit:

    "Add MIDI output option to send to "All MIDI Apps" so that unadvertised destinations, such as GarageBand, can receive MIDI from Arpist"

    I tried it -- it works. Arpist drives whichever GB instrument is on-screen at the moment.

    Gestrument +1. This app got so many options and my fav for controlling other instruments. You can fine tune gestrument so it fits into any song and even program gestrument and let it play like an ARP.

    so the reason I bumped this is because my impression was that 3rd party sequencers and arps were not 'allowed' to drive Garageband through MIDI in. Is this Arpist update a significant moment?

    Agree on StepPolyArp.

    Though a question in another thread got me into a three hour jam session with Xynthesizr, which I haven't opened in months. I realized last night what a great arpeggiator it can be. I set up a pretty good sequence, then randomized just one column of notes so that I had just a little bit of variation, added in some bass notes to anchor it all, connected up to Magellan, ... and suddenly it was 2:00am.

    you can use all kinds of arps and chord apps etc into Garage Band, just make sure you turn on background audio and improve compatibility with other apps in the Garage Band options!

    Amen. If you go to settings and set "note input behavior" you can send Xynthesizr notes to transpose the sequencer so that it works very much like an arp. Sending it notes for midiSequencer or Fugue Machine is a blast.

    Does garage band sync midi? For example, it would be cool to send fugue machine sequences into GarageBand.
