  • I had e-mailed Sugar Bytes about Looperator back in December of 2014, after the desktop version was released. They responded that they are "thinking about it and will make a decision whether we come up with an iOS version, but it might take some time".

As this reply was some time ago, and I've not heard anything since, I certainly don't know anything for sure. But, it seems like a good fit for iPad.

Well there's definitively a ~500mb limit for AUv3 on iOS

Which fits the average artist's full length studio album in uncompressed audio. It's easy to forget just how much memory that actually is in fact. These kind of 'limits' are still amazing to someone who grew up coding in the 80s and 90s :p

I also think some limits may be a good thing. It helps avoid hog programs - you know the ones that take as much resources as they want.

iPad Pro 12.9 has 4GB of RAM, I'm sure there are people running Factory on Macs with 4GB of RAM?

So perhaps they are referring to the formidable installed base of iOS devices that have 1GB or less...

Numbers game. They're probably waiting for when at least 50% of all actively used ipads have 4gb ram. That makes total sense if they have to prioritise.

Most of us wouldn't be happy either if they released it with ipad pro 12 compatibility only.
