  • To be honest, I rarely visited the site but I have watched many videos on YT.
I hope Doug let's us know when there is a new video and post the link over here on this forum. (just like in the early days)

  • The end of an era, The King is dead long live the King and everything in between.

To be honest I'd get notifications of vids through this forum so no big change for me. I'm glad you guys are still going, even if separately.

    Huzzah.

  • Will miss the site Doug. But happy to hear that you'll still be around. I will of course continue to be a patreon. Thanks for everything.

Hi, Doug- I just upped my pledge from $1/month to $4/month. My POV was $1 per vid, 4 vids per month.

Make more, and I'll pledge more!

How much will u give me for each of my useless instagram animations?

  • Sad news, but glad to see the vids will still be coming. Devs should definitely support you guys. I've bought many apps with the aid of soundtestroom, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

  • Such a useful site for making music and promoting music too. Thanks for everything guys. Sad to hear that it's over but will look out for the videos.

  • A multitude of thanks, fare thee well brave travellers of the sonic realms !

  • Thanks for all the great comments

  • Gonna be missed. Thanks for all you guys have done, and I continue to look forward to your YT channel offerings. I wish I could contribute to your patreon account, but I'm not in a position to do that currently.

  • Man!!!! This blows. I've really become used to using the price drop page and have bought many apps as a result. Always go through the link too. There just has to be enough potential value in this site to at least sell it off to someone else who has the capital to take it to the next level and profit. Such a shame to kill it off. I know for a fact that it's been responsible for at least my last 2 dozen app purchases. And, that's not counting the apps I've bought as a result of the STR videos. Surely someone has some bank to buy this off and keep it going?!

What’s the next level, and how do they profit? I have no inside info, but I think STR is people donating a lot of their time to it. It’s closing because the tech guy can no longer donate that time.

As far as the price drop page, where does that info come from? Can’t you hunt that up yourself? Maybe even make your own page for other bargain hunters?

I can't speak for Doug's site - as they're closing for other reasons, but I've built/run a few sites where content was free, and running costs met by ad and commission/affiliate based sales. But now paltry returns mean they're no longer worth my while.

It's a very difficult time for small businesses online, they're being hit from many angles (ad blocking, fewer advertisers, new VAT laws etc.). I was hoping to go full time on my own sites, but they just don't pay the bills.

  • I use appshopper too. I just liked all the extras and the layout of STR better than the appshopper angle.

  • Know how many demo videos I have in my bookmarks from TSTR? Lots! Thanks for everything gentlemen. I'll check in at the YouTube site.

  • @johnfromberkeley and @skiphunt Problem with Appshopper is that there's sometimes delays in price drops popping up. Sometimes you see delays of 24 to 48 hours, and some are just dropping in price for 24 hours.
