Crystal Synth was recently mentioned, so I picked it from the virtual attic and compared it Mitosynth, as both can do nice ambiences.
The difference in sound engines is anything but stunning.
Crystal sounds great, but features a dense and slightly muddy sound, while Mito is the crystal clear one with it's (obviously oversampled) sound engine.
Both useful in their own way.
Not to be forgotten, but Mitosynth is also Universal. Always a nice bonus.
I was running Mitosynth and iPolysix from Fugue, and checking through the Mitosynth patches. It kept disappearing visually (the screen would disappear) as if it had closed, but kept running - though with reduced sound, until it finally crashed.
To be honest I haven't used it much, so maybe it's a resources thing, and would have done this before the update.
How do you find the new patches - are they in a new folder?
You can see the new patches when you use the search-tags BASICS or INSTRUMENTS in the library.
I get the basics one come up, but none with INSTRUMENTS
Be sure to search for tags, not for name (tap the tag icon next to the search field)
Anyone have a Mitosynth sample or soundscape they've made or know of one that uses user imported custom samples? I found one link from a former(now deleted) user named Cinebient that read like it was pretty cool but the link is now disabled. Any others?
Have you downloaded the Preset Bank from The Sound Test Room? Some of those might fit your bill
Try loading a sample and using in instead of the samples in the preset 'Morphing Trough Dimensions' and then move the Pad 1 on the Y dimension.

I don't have it yet. Was trying to decide whether to buy. All the samples I've heard are made with built in patches. Was curious to hear something using Mitosynth to twist up your own sounds.
Thinking of it.... Is there any stand alone sample-editor on iOS that lets the user set the loop-points of a *.wav file?
Twisted wave doesn't have this feature and neither does Hokusai.
I could probably import the samples into BeatMaker 2 and re-save the file...
It's free. Just use the Blender in the wave chamber and load evolving waves
I guess I don't understand. Load what into what free blender & wave chamber? And how is this related to Mitosynth & mangling up your own sample sounds to make new ones with it?
@skiphunt
Ok:
The preset pack on the SoundTestRoom site is free and has plenty of presets which are already set up for easy mangling of your own samples. But, you can just make your own sample mangler easily.
Hope this helps some.
Ok. Again I'm lost. It sounds like you're under the impression that I have Mitisynth already. I don't. Was thinking of buying it and was interested in hearing what others had done using their own samples with it.
Already searched YouTube. Searched here too and thought I found what I was looking for in a post by a user called Cinebient, only he has left the site and his Dropbox link is no good.
Just reread my posts and I wasn't completely clear that I don't have Mitosynth yet, so I can see how you misinterpreted my question.
My bad.
Yeah I thought you had it lol
Will tell you if I find anything. Would definitely recommend though.
Please do, but your recommendation is welcome. I think we both like weird soundscape stuff based on your Shoom presets.
Hi, Here's a link to 'Mitosynth Extra Pack.mitosynth-package' in my Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z08lwk3t3idpy7d/Mitosynth Extra Pack.mitosynth-package?dl=0
Hope this works....Don't remember if this is the pack I got for free fro TSTR.
Link to Cinebient patches, still works

EDIT: Just a heads up that the patches from link above are already included in the download from thesoundtestroom.com
Are these samples of work made with Mitosynth using users samples? And listenable without Mitosynth?
Not sure why I'm having such a miserable time trying to communicate this.
I don't have Mitosynth yet.
Thinking of buying it.
Have heard audio/video pieces made with Mitosynths built in samples/patches.
Would like to hear something NOT made with the built in samples/patches and only using user-created imported samples if anyone has something they've done they'd like to share.
The Cinebient Dropbox link that doesn't work is a "cinematic" piece he was working on for a horror flick (I think)
My fault
@Samu What are you wanting to do? TwistedWave, if you select a portion of the file and hit play it will loop that section.
Samplewiz lets you set the loop points of the sample as well.
Twisted wave loops in the editor but they are not 'real loop points' and are not exported/saved to the *.wav file meaning one has to 're-loop' the sound in every app the sample is imported to. Hardly practical when building a sample-library. This would not be needed if the loop-points were saved in the *.wav file.
When exporting *.wav from say BeatMaker 2 it includes the loop-points in the file so it doesn't need to 're-looped' when imported to other apps...

@Samu Gotcha, Now I understand what you are looking for.
That's cool! Is that all your own samples only, that you imported into Mitosynth and twisted up with Mitosynth's tools into that composition?
And, how would you rate Mitosynth's learning curve?
That is 3 samples that were imported. They are originally from an Eat Static sample set, just altered a bit over time. That is one held note being played with me fingering the XY pads.
Importing is easy and it's easy to alter settings once you get the hang of the app. Because Mitosynth is a quite different layout to most synth apps, I had a little time lost when I first got the app. Now I find the app actually easier to get around than many other synth apps.
I think there is room for improvement. I would like to see some form of colour coding so you could quickly see the settings being affected by modulation. I would like to see an EQ fx. I would like to see two fx paths to use two filters etc and would like a band pass filter (even though you can make one sort of with a hi and low controlled by modulation).
All in all its a great app that seems to lean towards a smooth sound in general (yes it can do harsh even cold if you want, but in general it seems to have a smooth depth to its digital synthness lol Yes it's always asking for trouble describing the general sound of a synth app.
You answered all my questions and the sample you provided was pretty much what I was looking for. Thank you very much for taking the time!
