Sunrize is one of the best, it's been around a long time , there is lots of preset packs for it, both free and paid.
    Lush , Rich sound

I understand that it's been around for a long time and garnered allot of praise, but if you were purchasing today what other synth would you compare it with and would you end up getting the other synth or Sunrizer?

Price wise and quality wise at $10 maybe closest is iSem...but that's a whole other phenomenon, port-from-vst-emulation-of-vintage-hardware v. iOS-original-that-ported-to-vst (and would totally be cool as hardware).
My strategy is always get em all...

  • Of course I finally get my Friday afternoon laze-around on, unzip in AS and, poof they be gone, nowhere obvious to be found....any clues?

  • I agree with @dwarman, there is no alternate to Sunrizer. You will be very pleased with it and it's only $10. I also love Mitosynth and the iM1 and they all have something different to offer.

  • If you want one of the best sounding synths for iOS then you would get it . If however you're satisfied that what you have currently is all you need and you are not interested in dropping a very little money on a very capable and extremely great sounding synth that you will no doubt get great sound from then I think I would pass on it. I should add that large quantity of very nice free presets hopefully will not confuse the issue further still, but ya, there are a lot of them!

Anyone know of others? Not sure how many, but a ton of very nice sounds contained within just those.

Once you unzip, search by name: Nostalgia-HGS.srb

(Same thing happened to me...took me a while to sort)

  • Appreciate it folks, I really like some of the patches I heard in the nostalgia bank, can anyone recommend some other banks like this one?

    Appreciate your help Skipper.

  • hi studioAB was this in response to my query as the nostalgia pack has more of a vintage vibe than edm, or maybe you're saying that the edm expansion has allot of vintage stuff in it?

    regards

  • edited August 2016

Hi @kobamoto I was just listing free presets available in addition to the ones mentioned by others. They are not similar to the vintage vibe you are looking for.

  • ok, thanks

  • I would highly recommend sunrizer @kobamoto. It's just juicy. And my opinion is based solely on the lite iPhone version so the IPad probably has even more juice. (More filters and fx I believe)

  • Hey, fun to run up a few new Sunny Banks and fiddle with the patches. Glad they have a "favorites". A lot of very reasonable talk about folders and sorting and tabs and tags right now, but a even simple star button for the ones you like is better than the sharp stick of indifference...

  • Ace ! Mucho Gracias !!! It's a great synth :p

  • @ToMess Yikes! I didn't realize I posted direct dl link to one of them. Fixed. Thanks for catching.

  • Not really given much time to this synth, but since loading this pack have been giving it a go. Lots of nice preset packs available, but must say that so many of them are in the red with the gain. Surprises me, as some of the free banks come from people who sell preset banks.

  • Nice set of presets.
I don't understand how anyone can't have Sunrizer in their arsenal.
It is one of the greats.

Agreed. I don't like synths but I own and frequently use Sunrizer.

  • Thank you for sharing. :+1:

  • @kobamoto
One of my fav features of sunrizer is the random function in the utils>synth tools section, find making presets a breeze and the save system is good for working fast and experimenting.

There is an option to download 8 extra banks from the web library in the presets menu, you could have a lot of fun though randomising the nostalgia presets and making your own bank quite quickly, it has a hold function, but sometimes the jump in volume might be dangerous if you have it up loud.

    @everyone
I'm hoping the good vibes in this thread might inspire the dev, if they come across it that is, to speed up the release of the au-x, I feel like I've just fallen back in love with it again after a long break, I'm a sucker for the super saw sound.

  • Sunrizer has always been and still is one of my favourite synths be it 'real' or 'virtual'.

If I could wish for additions to Sunrizer it would be to be able to edit the stuff recorded in the pharse-sequencer, and also add a 'step-mode' to it similar to midiSTEPs and I would be spending unhealthy amount of time with it :D

  • My wish apart from what's already been said would be for a soft clipper and limiter on the output.

That would be welcome indeed, I somehow think it's the lack of the limiter that gives Sunrizer it's 'raw' sound :)

Yeah a limiter can be a bit brutal at times, I generally prefer clippers, but sometimes that jump in volume imprints that raw sound right down my ear canals, but it can sound very pleasing too driving the volume on certain sounds.

I've had that happen a few times too, quite unpleasant, scratching the ears...

Sunrizers output really 'clips' digitally so adding a limiter after Sunrizer in the effects chain doesn't help much other than lowering the output-volume of an already clipped signal.

Even with it's 'flaws' Sunrizer is one amazing piece of code that produces nice 'raw' sounds.
It's also amazingly well written considering it still works under iOS9.3.5 and hasn't had an update in ages :D

  • Is it worth it on the desktop for Logic? Or are there better options for the price (on sale now) ?
