Go to the iOS settings app and scroll down until you see your installed apps and tap on Refraktions. From there you can setup the MIDI out, among other things.

Yes, I have done all that, it's pretty basic stuff, tried various channels etc. I can trigger Refraktions sounds with my external keyboard, but I get no response from apps when Refraktions is running. The manual only talks about midi via network connection. So if anyone is using Refraktions midi out and not on a network, please let me know how it's done.

I'm using it. I assigned 7 different synths to 7 different channels for each of the 7 instruments. Unfortunately, you can't mute the internal synth, but you can turn on midi in and play the internal synth with an external keyboard while the generative part plays the external synths.

I did set up a Local network on my iPad using Midiflow, then selected that network for the midi out.

"Worked a treat" as the blokes like to say here. ;)

Shoom is still a favourite of mine. I must revisit soon and make some more patches.

That was crashing for me last night, when trying to use it via Aum. I'll try it again tonight but quite a few apps have been playing up since the recent iOS update.

Not had problems with this one, but have had a fair few crashes in AUM of late since the latest update.

Ah right, maybe Aum needs an update.

  • Diffferent Drummer, oddly enough, can be used for droning types of sounds..

Strange. It works for me straight away using iProphet and iSEM without any network setup. With those two apps open you should be able to choose from a dialog box that appears when Refraktions is opened where you want to send MIDI to. Not sure why that isn't happening on your end.
